I've got a drake brake and like it alot. Send marionfd708 a pm. Kev is good friends with Greg Brinkley, callmaker of Drake Brake calls.

As for rnt's, I would recommend the short barrel or daisy cutter. The DC will have a little more volume

Single reeds are far more versatile than double reeds. Most double reeds already have the "duck" built into them, all you have to do is put air into the call. Where as with a single reed, you've gotta know what you are doing to make the call sound right. A single reed takes practice, practice, practice. Your types of sounds and tones are more widely available with a single reed, especially when it comes to feed chatter type stuff.

I would start off with the $25 echo poly timber or Zink's Power Hen polycarb. Both are single reeds and good calls for the money.

It took me 8 yrs to learn how to blow a single reed call. I was stuck on haydels for years and couldn't get myself out of the double reed funk. I've still got my old haydel's and can still make them sound good today, but I've changed my calling technique to where I'm geared up for single reeds, and it throws me off a little bit at first.

if you want to do fancy stuff...get a single reed....will it call more ducks....hell if I know, but I doubt it...calling is about reading the birds, not hitting notes....

for RNT's I've got two of the Timbre calls, a Daisy Cutter, and an Original, I like the original pretty well, the Timbre's are easy to blow, and if you know what you're doing the Daisy Cutter sounds good (but it's a bit harder to blow, there seems to be less back pressure).....

I've got an Echo Open Water, and Echo XLT and an Echo Timber....the Timber is the easiest to get to sound right, the XLT is a little louder, and the Open Water is great for loud calling but you have to know what you're doing....

the RNT Original and the Echo Open water spend the most time on my lanyard, I have some pretty ducky calls I made that sit right next to 'em, then I usually rotate between the RNT Timbre and the Daisy Cutter, depending how I feel that morning.....
