Perhaps post YOUR land better? Although I'm not familiar with this particular area, I wish the private landowners would mark their land better adjacent to public areas.

I used to hunt and fish all over the Sardis Lake area back in the day when I was in the 8 year college plan at Ole Miss. But back then, the normal water levels in the Lake were much higher, which put more water into the creeks that empty into Sardis. I did a lot of creek fishing for bass --- did not need a boat --- all I needed was hip boots, a rod and reel, and some light, portable tackle. Also duck hunted in some secret spots along those creeks that would flood up nicely during the winter.

But, things are much different now. The normal water levels were considerably lowered back in the late 80s/early 90s, which pretty much ruined the fishing and duck hunting on and around the creeks further inland (not the mouths). The drop in water level created a huge mudflat area surrounding most of the Lake ---it was ugly for years. Also, there are less areas that flood now during the winter for duck hunting.

Some locals can probably fill you in on the right places to hunt (turkey, duck, etc.) now. All of my old haunts were pretty much destroyed by the COE decision to lower the normal lake levels.

It's posted....and quite amazing how many people never learned the word POSTED or TRESPASSING...or how they forget it during turkey season...OR how they choose to interpret it when they need to get from point A to point B (influenced interpretation when turkeys are being vocal)
