We are constantly calling at the same ducks and I can pull some from their area as well as keep em off their water to try and get them over to us. I guess what I'm asking is, when are they my ducks and they should be quiet and when are the ducks theirs and we shut up?

They aren't anyones until they hit the water!

IMHO, the ducks are fair game until they are cupped up (or about to be so) on a decoy spread. If they are about to land on top of a neighbor's spread, then I will usually lay off the calling. Never, never, never, never, should I nor anyone else skybust ducks or purposely shoot in the air to scare ducks off someone else. Doing so is just plain wrong.

i agree with the respect thing. two buddies and i were huntin some public timber the other weekend and when we go to our hole there was somebody there. One of my friends went to talk to him and when he got close the guy went off like a jack a**. so we didnt bother him and set up a couple hundred yars away in the timber and when the mallards started flying i just called the ducks that were working his hole and put them down behind us instead. maybe if the guy would have worked with us it would have been a different story.

but i think if you are in a situation where everyone (public land) are workin the same ducks then the better caller will get em. its a dog eat dog world

I just want to return to the days of yesteryear When a MAN was a MAN and everyone gave the other a fair shake...NOW its all about ME and to heck with the other guy. Its a shame that folks cant or wont think about the other guy. Used to Be if you worked ducks the other guy would honor your work NOW its so different. I aint that dumb to think it will ever change. I am glad that I aint in MY twenties anymore because in 20 years you wont beable to hunt ducks on public land because people will have escalated this behaivor to killing each other over a flight of ducks.

SAD SAD SAD to hear some of the responses to this thread. YES this is MY opinion and its not going to change.

I whole-heartedly agree with you, Ken.

It sounds like the prevalent attitude is,
"well, if he's going to be an "turd-cutter" (baby) about it........then I'll just be a BIGEER "turd-cutter" (baby)....
...blah, blah, blah..........wa, wa, wa.  Very disappointed in some of the responses here, too.
