I was hunting another premier duck huntig spot, The Rez!
, one morning above 43 when a yahoo of the Magnolia Crap Club comes within 15 yds. of my dekes and anchors and starts to FISH! I did not want to say anything as it was an old man but the his buddy in another crap boat shows up and anchors about 20' feet away from him to the south and effectivly blocks all acces to my little"not so" honey hole! I thought of acting like I saw duks and shooting at nothing in the air to see what they would do! I finally start picking up and ask why they chose that spot. They were "prefishing" for a tourney to be held that weekend and I set up in a "known" hotspot!
Was NOT known to me as I do not crappie fish out there! The yahoos could have waited an hour or two and not even have showed me the hotspot as I would have been history. I may go after them now that I know a good spot! How old are YOU One More Pass??????
Might have been Bobby Cleveland's favorite subject, Rabbit Rodgers for all I know!

If you were hunting in a known crappie hot spot, you sure as heck were not in a "duck honey hole". Not on the Ross Barnett anyway.
Joe you hit Bobby Cleveland on the head, he must think Rabbit Rogers is the only person in the state that can catch crappie, and Pete Ponds is the only one that can catch Bass, cause when it comes to those subjects those are the only two he writes about.
As far as a crappie fisherman I am sure they fell the same way about duck hunters messing up their fishing.

Wish ole boy wasn't calling this place "premier" all over the WWW for everybody and their mama to see. Already enough folks up there these days as it is. "Premier" is also a bit misleading ~ not how I would describe the hunting anyways. Maybe dude should have simply explained to these fisherman that he was trying to duck hunt. I'm sure they would have gladly picked up and left if they had known he was trying to hunt. Just when you think you've heard it all.... Ha

I got news for you, if you really think Chotard is a premier duck hunting lake, you have not been on a real average duck hunt....me and my buds have been hunting there for a long, long time and know every hole at every depth out there.....it aint worth a flip unless the river gets up 32-35 feet....and even then, its just average...
on the flip side, if a fisherman comes up on my duck while Im hunting it, you can bet your sweet booty Im gonna be PO'd....
IT'S A MATTER OF RESPECT.....if he knowingly fishes around me, this is the manner I will handle it:
1. Politely ask him to leave while my hunt is in progress
2. TELL him to leave my area while my hunt is in progress
3. Fire warning shots at the mystery birds flying over
4. Crank the boat up, drive over and whip booty!!!!!!
If he is there first, I will totally avoid him.....respect, that's all..

Well I was fishing the tournament this past weekend and I'm wondering just how Chotard is a premier duck hunting lake. I fished Friday and Saturday and other than the two mallards I saw in Albermarle all I saw was wood ducks coming in after shooting light Friday evening as we stood by a warm camp fire. I didn't hear much shooting either, but I can tell you the crappie were biting like crazy.
Mud Sucker - I'm 34 years old so it wasn't me fishing your hunting spot!

How many crappie were put in Eagle this weekend? It sure needs some help. Fishing there has went to crap in the last few years.

Not sure of an exact number but there were a couple hundred I would guess. The fishing wasn't as good on Friday as it was Saturday due to the cold front that came through the day before. The fish just don't bite on a blue bird day after a front. We will be there in January to do the same thing so I hope we catch a truck load!

I have the utmost respect for you guys out trollin durin this time of the year. I love to eat them slabs as much as anybody but id rather take a swift kick n the nuts than to fight that north wind on chotard this time of year. Ive seen Nita Penn fill up several coolers n a few hours and it be so dam cold you could hardly stand it. No matter what i caint ever get out of her the depth or the jig color
