As of this post, Im going to say that right now we (here in Greanda) are about a week to 10 days before prime time, freak nasty, rut takes place.
I hope this doesn't sound like im angry cause that is not the case. I just hear lots of misconceptions about the rut and im posting this for those that do not fully understand it.
Nobody thinks you are trying to be mean I am sure and yes most of us know the deer breed regardless of temp but that the weather does seem to make activity more visable during the day if it is colder, hence the theory that some think weather triggers them to rut. Anyway I think some are just trying to keep up with the rutting activity to make sure they are in the woods at that time and if the folks up north ms keep us informed then we can be ready down here.

killed a nice one dec. 1 trailing 2 does. Friend saw young buck chasing and grunting monday eve. I shot at good buck running scrapes mon, dec 4. They did not start this kind of activity down here last year until jan. The temps have something to do with the rut in my opinion. Already been 7 or 8 good uns killed in the county.
