What does your fearless crystal ball say about the Miami position?

Your problem is that it seems you expect to find any sort of football knowledge here. It's kinda like lookin' for ducks in Alabama. Might be a few, but they're probably mergansers.

I just wish the search would drag on into late December, so that they would lose out on another recruiting class.

Well, it appears that I gave Alabama too much credit. IT now appears that they DID NOT have a replacement for Shula already locked up before firing him. And I thought Pete Boone was dumb.

No, it now appears that the initial part of this coaching search was fueled by arrogance --- the mindset that if we just fire Shula and annouce the new job opening, every top, name coach in the country will come crawling to Alabama for this great job. Well, down goes Spurrier, Saban, Grobe. And it appears that Johnson (Navy) and Rodriguez (W. Virginia) are highly doubtful. IT now appears that this search is going to take awhile to find the "right" candidate.

And BTW, BBB is a man of his word, who follows his own advice. He STAYED HOME from every college football game this season.

Nutt booty is being thrown around, they can have him if they want him, but like I've said, noone wants the hassel of that job and even big money ain't talking. They'll get someone who'll bite eventually but they best get teir ass in gear cause recruiting season is in full effect and the vultures are circling every bama prospect and will only set them back more. But webbie will call me an idiot and blah blah blah. De Nile ain't just a river.

UA-tuscaloosa will do in their search just like Ole Miss... After being passed over by three or four coaches, they'll get their fifth choice to accept. MM will trot him out and say, "This is the man we wanted all along!".

Go24, when Petrino indicated that he was not interested (he is the coach that I thought UM had locked up before Cut was fired), then I was praying that the two other candidates that the high dollar supporters wanted --Erickson and Neuheusal --would not get the job. Thankfully, Robert Khayat nixed Neuheusal due to his previous NCAA baggage. And Erickson apparently was noncommital and unimpressive in the interview with RK and Boone. Orgeron was my desired pick after Petrino. I did not want Neuheusal for the same reasons he was nixed by RK. And I thought that Erickson was washed up and simply would not have enough energy to handle the huge task ahead to clean up the mess left by Cut and his staff.
Since we could not get Petrino, and we needed a good recruiter to rebuild the program, I think UM made the best available choice. Sometimes, things have a way of working out for the best.

Alabama may wind up getting Petrino, who would be an excellent coach for the Tide. He is a good recruiter and is still young and full of energy. And I think the allure of more money might entice him to leave Louisville. Or, if they get Rodriguez (WV) or Johnson (Navy), they would be in good shape as well. There are probably some other good candidates out there in the college ranks whose names have not surfaced yet. And there are likely some good candidates in the NFL ranks --former NFL coaches who have been fired, etc. It should be interesting to see who the Tide hires.

Po Monk...the way I remember the O hiring and the Erickson deal in particular was that out of the gate Pete Boone announced they would accept nothing less than a coach with head coaching experience. They told the local media they had interviewed Erickson and were in contract discussions. The next day, Erickson denied even interviewing with Boone or RK. That was the end of the Erickson deal. Ultimately, as we all know, O was hired and he had not even been a coordinator for a BCS conference team. I may be off a little, but the majority of those facts are stuck in my head because of my location at the time.
