it's always funny to me to see the look on people's face when I tell them I'm shooting a light mod. after I fold up a bird up at what they consider to be long range (usually 30 yards or so).... people often think they need more choke than they do...goes for clays as well.

I'm not a fan of long distance duck killing regardless of how successful the shooter may be....but those Flyway Highway boys seem to have it figured out. The average hangtime of one of their knockdowns seems to be about 5 seconds. - must be shootin hevi-shot or somethin'...eh Bro?

Hevi shot with extremely tight chokes is deadly out to 70 plus yards, if, if if, you know how to lead a bird flying at that distance. Best way to gain that knowledge is to go shoot scooters and Eiders.

Well guys here we go,I shoot a kick's high flyer in a bse and I would hate to be a duck at 45-55yrds because that's his greenhead.I hunting with stumpjumper,champ7 and many others will let them shoot the close birds and i'll take what's left.If birds are in the dekes though the choke will ruin the duck!

I have seen the same thing over and over. Duck hunters in general are the worst judges of distance I have ever seen. Except maybe for snow goose hunters. Most tend to seriously overestimate distances (except for the guys who bowhunt for deer all the time. They seem to always know). I was shooting sporting clays the other day, at a 30 yard target, and "new guy" asked me "Man, how much choke is that?" He about freaked out when I told him "No choke at all. See the threads?"

I can guarandamntee you that I don't skybust and I don't think most on here do either. I shoot Improved Cylinder...if they don't commit they don't get shot at. We miss out on some flights but can sure knock 'em silly when we do shoot.

im a fan of my factory modified tube. ducks dont stand a chance anywhere within 40 yards. i have been tossing around the idea of getting a paternmaster though.

ive got a browning "waterfowl full" in my gun which is a pretty tight choke, probably tighter than a factory full, but the only noticable difference is the reduction of cripples and it makes it easier to chase a cripple down if you have to...long shots are long shots...you shouldnt be shootin long consistently enough to tell a difference in a choke tube...
