With respect to UM and BS, Powe, and Rory Johnson, we've analyzed everything but their actual academic transcripts.BS in in, and the other two are still waiting. Practice, as far as we know, is going pretty good. There are a few minor injuries --nothing major.
The only SEC fan on the board doing any big talking and bragging is Big Gumbo re his Arkansas Hogs. Everyone else has better sense re their respective teams. Cautious optimism and/or mild pessimism seems to be the operative words to describe most of us.
I have low expectations. I just hope my Rebs win the first game ---I really don't care how. Yes, I would like to pound Memphis into the ground, but I just want that first W and go from there. I will be relieved when our defense gets that first stop and forces a punt with Memphis not scoring. I will also be relieved to see the offense get a first down, get some snaps off without dropping the snap from center, make it to the line of scrimmage on time without getting a delay of game penalty, successfully run the ball without fumbling, successfully complete some passes without any interceptions, and just run a fairly efficient offense like most decent teams do. And I will be thrilled to see our kickers make 30 yard and closer field goals on a routine basis ----not even asking for 40 yards yet. Lets just make the 30 yards and closer and the PATs. I may pass out from excitement if our punter can nail a 40 yard punt with decent hang time. And if its not too much to ask, I would really like to see us score often enough to keep the band awake and hear Dixie played more than a couple of times a game.
I just can't wait.
