Retriever question
Chance - How is the dog you referenced from Allie and Coffee doing. Is it the first or second breeding. My female came from the first breeding and I know how several of her littermates are doing, just curious about the one you were talking about. I am in Old Hatchie with Scot and Linda. I have to say, Southern Flight is a great HRC. I love going there. Tests are fair, and usually have really good judges. Keep up the good work!!

Rowdy is gong on two years old. Travis Bruce has him---GooseBruce. Snoked four seasoned tests tis spring and should make finished look like a cake walk or so ravistinks. Ronnie Harwell has a mae litter mate namedJumper. Nice dogs, both of them.
Lou--I have ran AKC and UKC hunt tests. Member of MidSouth HRC. Have been to the Magnolia hunt several times. IMHO---AKC tests retrievers and UKC tests hunting retrievers.

Retriever question
Dunno if old rowdy is gonna make it. Ran a 175 yard water blind yesterday, with the last 50 yards in a narrowing channel. Took 7 whistles to get him there...Damn dog wouldn't hold an angle back from the suction of the bank more than bout 35 yards before I had to cast him again! hehehe. Bet he smokes it this afternoon though, he was loose as a goose after 8 days sitting in living room while I was gone to canada...
Rowdy is from the first litter. They did repete the breeding, because everyone was so happy with those puppies. Rowdy is a good marker, but not an exceptional marker. His marking is very easily manipulated by his confidence level. When things are going good, its hard to throw a series he can't clean up. He learns exceptionally fast in drill type situtions, when things are black & white. Very rare he gets a collar correction in field, he simply tries his hardest every time out. He NEVER slips a whistle, and a cast refusual is rare. He is spooky, and when spooked, he doesn't work well. That's getting better with age though. Sometimes we progress at leaps & bounds, and sometimes we go slowly. As long as I let him dictate our progress, and don't try to force it, we make steady gains. Hes not the kind of dog you can simply put pressure on for results, and be happy with the results. But hes the kind of dog that once he understands it, he knows it, and does it, 100% every time. And thats excatly what I wanted. Hes 12 for 12 right now, with HR & UH titles (100 points), and I hope to CH 4 for 4 in sept. If we fail one first, its no biggie, but id like to make the CH clean. Tell me bout your bitch, what she's like in training. travis

Retriever question
She is a LIVE WIRE. Maggie is very steady and honest. She really does not try and "Lie" on a line. Once she locks down, she's locked. I am vey pleased with what I have seen from her. She has her HR title w/o a fail, and her JH in AKC. She only ran once this spring, at Old Hatchie, and got two Finished passes very cleanly. She is about 65 pounds, very tractible, and has a great personality. Magie takes great lines and marks well, too. The thing I really love about her, is she will plant her butt on whistle, and take a direction and go with it. When I say she is a live wire, I mean she loves what she does, when ducks go to flying, she is estatic. She is really fast and I love that, also. The only real problem I have had with her was early in the spring before her heat cycle. She had a severe case of PMS and would not do right. Took me a couple of weeks to figure out what was going on, but when I did, just eased up on training some. The day her cycle began - wide open again with no problems since. Later I found out this was not really that uncommon from time to time. I wish she had gotten to run more this spring, I think she would have titled. I hope she HRCH's at Languille River and we'll work on her SH. We've been training by running Finished scenario's a couple of days, then running Master scenario's a couple of days. I have had her at a friend of mine's for a while who is a really good trainer. I work with him about three times a week. It works out well that way because I usually work about 10 hours a day. He trains full time and is really good at what he does.
I am planning on possibly breeding her this fall, no later than the spring. If you know anyone interested, probably going to breed her to FC Watermark's The Boss. He just needs a qualifying placement to have his AFC. Should be some really nice pups.

Chance - L'Anguille is posted on the HRC Schedule of Events as being August 31 & September 1. I guess maybe I need to call and get clarification, because I know it is usually in October. I'll check and post what I find out.
I would love for Maggie to title at my home HRC (Old Hatchie), but I'm hoping she HRCH's at the first one we go to.
Thanks a lot.

Chance - You are right. L'Anguille is going to be October 12 & 13. They are going to be listing a revised shedule in the next Hunting Retriever Journal and have the UKC website revised. Thanks for bringing that to my attention because I was already planning my weekends. I was really concerned because it probably won't be any cooler then than it is now. October will be much better.
Did you have a dog at the Grand? I noticed in one of your posts it sounded like it.

Labs&Ducks. Are you carzy????? You don't want to title at Old Hatchie or Southern Flight. When someone titles at those hunts Memphis has a water shortage for a week. I believe those people think that is the only time someone takes a bath. Man those people believe in wetting people who title and sometimes if you just look like you might have titled somewhere else. Central Alabama hunt is Sept 7&8 you might want to check it out we are not too far form Mississippi.

Retriever question
Bobby - We are planning on hopefully going to Central Alabama. Never got to go, but the guy I train with says ya'll put on a good test. I guess Maggie could title at your Hunt Test, but I'll just go ahead and tell you, when she gets it I'd be more than glad to backstroke across one of the ponds!!
I could get it either way though. I've got a male dog (Thunder) who if we get to come will be running also, could get two passes at Central AL, and I'd be back in the same shape (possibly getting drowned at Old Hatchie). They definately got me in the Spring. Both of my dogs had gotten their HR and I had managed to miss a wetting. Boy did they ever make up for it!! I think some got pictures of me getting absolutely DROWNED wearing a pair of boxer shorts. I'd already given someone else with me my spare dry clothes. Live and Learn!! It sure is fun though!!!!!
I'd love to see Maggie get her HRCH at the first Hunt Test we go to. I really want to see Thunder run through the next four tests, he's 14 months old and loves it.
Hopefully see you at your Hunt Test!

Just got back from a Central Ala HRC meeting. It seems that ours is the first test of the season and we have already started getting calls to reserve places. We will only be having two flights of finished and one season and one started. If you are planning to run you had better get your premium in. It will be fun. I remembr a feller getting near nekked at Old Hatchie las spring to get wet. Travis and I both judged there.
Charlie Felkins had called me to judge finished at L'Anguille. That is the reason I knew the date. Hey--come run with us. That ol pond water really sticks with ya after a title run. My two boys really get into wetting folks down good.
