I like Benelli, but opt for the 3 inch Super 90 instead. Sold the only Berretta I've ever owned to Crackhead's buddy years ago. I'd go SBE.

Buy whichever one you shoot best...they're all good guns...I like the Beretta and will be probably getting one this year to replace my Winchester SX2...nothing wrong with the Winchester either, but I've been shooting it since the first year they came out...just decided I wanted something different....

If you want the most reliable the Benelli Super 90 is one of the best I've seen this side of an A5...any one of the 3.5 inch guns are a little bit finicky compared to it.... I've seen every gun at some point malfunction ...take that for what it's worth...just remember buy the one you shoot the best....

My vote is for the Xtrema. I have one (not the Xtrema 2) and it has been awesome. I don't use it as much as most folks, but I have shot all types of loads thru it. It has cycled everything flawlessly. I shopped alot and all the dealers I talked to put it at the top, with the Benelli right behind it. Had a few tell me the Gold was not in the same league -- and in many cases it was the most expensive one they had on the shelf.

Well, I bought a brand new Xtrema2 it would not shoot. I had several gun experts look at it and it still would not shoot. Don Miller ,Haphaz,Spoonallard were there in AR when the damn thing would not shoot. So I bought me a new Benelli SBE2. I got a Benelli SBE and it is about 6 years old now and it would shoot every shell load you put in the gun. So this is first hand knowledge of Beretta VS Benelli. BUY THE BENELLI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn... I was leaning twoards the Xtrema, but I am not crazy about how it feels in my hands, but you all sound like you seem to think the SBEII will be more durable if I beat the hell out of it which I will for sure. My 11-87 has a constant orange tinge to it from years of saltwater abuse, and I normally have to put a new sure cycle system in it before the start of each hunting season, they just don't make stainless like they used to. I really would like to shoot them and see how they perform, that is my next objective, but still gathering info on them right now. Keep the opinions coming...

Since you are so used to the 11-87, the guns made today that have a similar feel are the BGH and Win SX2 or 3.

I am confused with the SX3, I thought Winchester quit making guns, is that not correct?

Winchester quit taking 2 models of guns, one rifle and one shotgun due to lack of sales.

Browning owns Winchester, so they aren't going out of business anytime soon.

As for the 11-87, here's something else I thought about. The Baikal MP-153 3.5 auto, the gun I have, was recently bought out by Remington and is making the gun under the trademark SpartanWorks, model SP453.

For $450 you can't beat the gun, has a closer feel to the 11-87 than the BGH or Win that I mentioned earlier. I've got one that I've beat to death for 2 yrs, all it needs is a coating of camo spraypaint every season.

I like the gun for the simple fact that it has a recoil reducer nut inside the forearm. You can rotate the cylinder left or right for light to heavy loads, and never miss a beat.

i believe cdnn still has a few synthetic baikal mp-153's left over for under $300

gh22 just to let you know browning does not own winchester, they both sold out to the same company, the super x3 is suppoosed to be like the X2 but with a few changes, winchester is no longer making the model 70, 94 or 1300. They may start making the model 70 again. I am thinking about getting the X2 in a 3 inch it seems like a really good buy for $400, seems to be the exact same gun as the browning gold silver hunter for $300 less. i was just wondering if anyone has tried the X2 and how it has done.

Browning sold out? I haven't read anything about it, reason I said what I said.

Where did you find one for $400? If they're that inexpensive I might buy one. Could only find them for over $700 on the Internet.
