Bottom line, LSU didn't do what it needed to do in order to get a bid. If you win one against Ole Miss or take one against State or take the series from a bad Florida team, then we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. We can debate LSU versus State, but I subscribe to the theory of not letting the committee deciding your fate. Win games and you will not have to worry about whether or not you make it in.

I do think LSU should have gotten in somewhere, but I don't think we have the pitching to make any noise. Plus now, we will at least have some shake up on the coaching staff. Here's to the SEC making some noise and taking over Omaha.

Thanks Big. I am a diehard LSU fan, but try to be reasonable as can be when looking thru purple and gold glasses. We ended up 35-24, but beat 9 teams that are going to the tournament.

Here are some comments from Jim Wells and Mike Bianco regarding LSU. But like I said, didn't win when we needed to. END OF STORY.

It doesn’t surprise me Mississippi State got in,” said Alabama coach Jim Wells, a former LSU assistant under Bertman with Laval.
“They seem to get in every year whether they make the (SEC) tournament or not. I’m sure it has something to do with Larry
Templeton being on the committee. I’m surprised LSU is not in. They were the eighth seed in our tournament. Between the two I’d say LSU should be in.”

Another former Tigers assistant was less subtle in his surprise.

“Shocked, just totally shocked,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “I thought there would be no way. I’m very disappointed for them. They deserve to be in.”

Interesting fact I just found. This is the first year since 1989 that LSU isn't hosting a regional. This is also the first year since 1988 that LSU isn't in any regional.

GH22, why do we have it coming? Just because we had the nations most dominant program for about ten years we deserve to have something bad happen? That's chicken Sh*t thinking there. Just because a team is used to winning, doesn't mean becuase of that they should get screwed. Especially in college ball where the only reason the kids play is for the most part love of the game. So why did the kids on this team deserve to get screwed? They played hard all year long, and you are trying to tell me that just because they play for a school that in the past was the best thing around they should get the shaft? So does that mean that in the future since MSU has perenially one of the worst atheletic departments in the SEC they should "have it coming" to them also? I try not to bash anyoneelses school, as everyone has a right to bleed what ever colors their school is. However I just can't see any thinking in your posts about this other than just complete jealousy. If I am wrong please point it out, but that is the only thing I can come up with.

LSU has been handed sop regionals for years and years and years on a silver platter when they weren't deserving of being a host. The only reason they were given the regionals was because of $$$, and the ncaa stuck some sucky teams in there to give them a free ride to the CWS.

LSU had their niche in the college baseball scene back when "enhancements" weren't tested for by the school, nor the ncaa. When you've got your 2B and SS hitting over 30 bombs apiece, SS actually hit 42, something was going on, and it wasn't the weight room. LSU was hell on wheels when gorilla ball was in full effect, but when that aspect was taken from their game a few years ago they forgot how to play ball like everyone else does.

I had several conversations with lsu fans in the bar last night, and all of them said that LSU had it coming, so I'm not the only one that's thinking this. They also went on to say that LSU didn't deserve to play in the ncaa's and that state would represent the conference better in regional play.

It was time for LSU to receive a reality check, and they finally did. Hopefully Bertman will have the balls to give Smoke the pink slip so y'all can get a baseball coach to get the program built back up to the level it's accustomed to.

GH22, not that you don't probably kow this already, but the "gorilla ball" era was not just at LSU, although they are the most famous for it because it translated to national titles. I personally know players from State, UM, and several other schools from that time frame who juiced. Another change, which actually may be a bigger change than implementation of the steroid policy is the change in the diameter of the head of the bat. All the players used to essentially swing a fungo bat.

To say LSU had it coming to them is somewhat harsh. Sure they may have been given the benefit of the doubt in regionals because of money, but don't blame LSU or the fans for showing up for games. State has a much nicer facility and could probably accommodate a couple of thousand more people, but these are people who will never show up. I don't like the fact that things happen because of money any more than you or anyone else, but that does not change the way things are. This is the reason why the Ohio State's and Notre Dame's of the world never receive football probabtion -- they make money for the NCAA -- it is sad but true. The bottom line is LSU capitalized on the benefits, if any, given to them and have the banners to prove it. They still won it on the field IN OMAHA.

I don't want to get on here and bash State, although I could very easily do so in virtually every sport. Therefore I will recuse myself from this thread from this point forward as I harbor no ill feelings towards you or anyone else on here. I just ask that you try to be a little more objective.

LSU playing in a small park played a big part in their hr success, take UK this season for example. They crush the ball in Lexington, but you put them in a bigger park, and they become very beatable. UK caught a lucky break when they received a regional and possible super regional hosting site. No way do they possibly make it to the CWS this season without that happening.

I honestly believe that Dudy Noble is by far the hardest place to hit a hr at in the sec, hands down. You've either got to crush it or catch a major wind blowing out to get it over the fence. You can even go back and look at Castoria's, Palmeiro's and Clark's HR numbers, majority of them were hit away from DNF.

Heck, I used to love LSU baseball. Hell I've still got a LSU baseball banner on my wall back at my mom's house. But over the years I've just gotten tired of the ncaa setting up LSU for an easy run to the CWS.

LSU over the last decade has beaten almost all if not all of the teams that you have listed above in regional play or in Omaha itself. I have read your previous posts and they are pretty retarded. Nothing against you but LSU has played crappy during the regular season in years past and still turned it on in tourney play to win a CWS. So to say that they don't deserve a chance to play is moronic. I have to agree with someone who posted earlier that you get there by playing well in the regular season which they did not do. You don't get left out because you had it coming.

Honestly, I'm tired of arguing about this.

I have my viewpoints, and y'all have yours. I'm not going to change how I feel, nor will any of you. Nothing is going to change the fact that MSU is in, and LSU is out. MSU is a more deserving team than LSU.

I do understand that LSU did beat some good teams in the CWS, but they didn't have to face any good teams to reach that point. You give MSU the same regionals that LSU received over the yrs, and I'd be willing to bet that MSU would've been in the CWS alot also.

Like I said earlier, LSU needed a reality check, and they got it. Now lets see how they rebound from this when next season comes around.
