Great run by the Tigers. Too bad it had to come to an end one game short.
From the game highlights, it looked like Davis just ran out of gas, or finally met his match in the paint. He was not able to bull his way to the basket and had a poor shooting touch. Did not look like the same player I had seen earlier in the season.
Tough loss.

THey just looked completely flat/out of gas against UCLA. Granted I think UCLA played lights out, but even still had we made some free throws and baskets we would have been a little closer. On the plus side Glen Davis is comin' back next year, and I have a feeling if he does Tyrus Thomas will also. If we could pick up a point gaurd next year we could be real dangerous!

You can't be too disappointed. LSU is not a basketball school, at least the emphasis is not on B-ball, so to make it to the Elite 8, much less the Final Four is a huge accomplishment. As for the game itself, the guard play and defense of UCLA killed us. LSU had the advantage on the inside on paper but that advantage was never truly utilized because of match up problems everywhere else. UCLA is also legitimately ten players deep. If LSU played UCLA ten times, they would lose 10 times. It is just a bad match up. Big Baby needs to lose about 30 more pounds and neither he nor Tyrus are ready for the NBA.
It was a bad weekend in general for the Tigers. The women got beat by a lesser Duke team IMO and the baseball team got destroyed by South Carolina in a sweep (insert Bianco to LSU link here). All of the negative energy and general sports focus is squarely on Smoke now. Not good for him.
As for two teams in the respective final fours with both getting killed, it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all,or whatever that saying is. I am very proud of both teams.

Yes, just getting to the final four is quite a feat. However, because the chances are so rare to get a shot at the title, it has still got to hurt. I can remember well those LSU teams when I was a student at UM ---they had Shaq, A. Jackson, etc. And even then, they did not do as well as this LSU team did this season.
To win it all, you have to have a good enough season to get a high seed, get on a roll and peak at the right time, and have a lot of good luck. And, such is what makes it so fun and interesting every year.

I couldn't agree more Po Monkey. If Big Baby and Tyrus come back (that is a huge if with Tyrus), LSU on paper should be better next year than this year. They have two guard transfers -one from Marquette and one from Texas Tech I believe - that should add height and athleticism to the team. However, they may not make it out of the first round even though they are "better". There were are a lot of great teams sitting at home this weekend.
It definitely hurts but you have to look for a silver lining somewhere -- especially with this disasterous baseball season to focus on now.
I am really ready for September to get here.

Look at how different the NCAA's would have been for LSU if Darell Mitchell wouldn't have hit that near miracle 3pt. shot at the end of regulation against Texas A&M, would have been another quick stay for LSU and another Fire Brady session in Louisiana. Someone said that if you repeated the NCAA's you would probably have a completely different final four each time. I think they are very much correct.
Deltamud I agree with you completely, it sucks to loose the way that we did, but it was a great ride getting there. I think the big reason this team made it this far is because they played like a team, not a lot of I's on it but a bunch of we's.
