Beretta 390, Beretta 391 Extrema, Beretta 686 Sporting Clays, I think I Like Beretta too much! If you want the BEST get you a Beretta!
Yea I shot that SBE of TDU4U's at the Willows Duck Flush with the extended mag tube (didn't know they were legal to hunt with in the Free State of Dundee though, you got one on yours too DD?) but I've heard of too many war stories about the benelli. My bro. in law shot his till the barrell fell off! The guts fell out of my dads SBE in the blind this year.
Hey DD I heard you can throw Eight Ducks in the air and hit them all before they hit the ground, can you? (Tom Knapp JR.)

It was 9 ducks I shot. The decoy bag they were in looked like hell.
RedHead when you want to shoot a "real" gun give me a call, I'll let you shoot one of mine.
I had a guy that had one of those cheap K 80s fall apart on him.
I'm a Benelli and Winchester mane!!!!!!!!

The best gun is the one you feel comfortable with. We have so many excellent options these days it really isn't fair is it?
They all deliver reasonably well and most of them are in a practical man's price range.
Remember how an old base ball glove feels when you slip your hand in it for the 1000th time?
So smooth and just right, just makes you smile. Another just wont do, and you will take leather strips and sew it back together until finally you have no choice but to retire it, but only after a few more catches with it.
Some gloves just dont feel right from the very beginning and you know it too. Your best friend may love his, but to you it just isnt right, and you can tell even when it's brand new. Will it catch a ball?
Can you catch balls?
Well it will catch a ball then.
A gun that feels right is worth 10 times what they ask for it, but only you can tell which one it is. Wave them around the store, who cares. Wave them wave them wave them. Imagine some flies trying to steal your BBQ chicken off a plate 30 yards away and wave around trying to shoot that sucker. Wave it.
I myself love a pump gun, pumping is part of my swing, part of my aim and just plain part of the fun. It keeps me from shooting to quickly as well. It's just me, but I like a pump gun and boy you would be hard pressed to show me one more dependable than an 870 Wingmaster. It's the right glove for me.
I can hit coots with mine even.
Don't take it so serious, if the gun just isn't right and you make a mistake, well sell it used work two saturdays and buy another one. You will get it right sooner or later, but nobody can tell you what that is.
My best friend would kill you if you hurt his browning pump. I'm safe with that because I wouldn't **** on the thing, it's a contraption and it reminds me of that mouse trap game from about 2000 years ago. But thats his glove and whoever gets to 6 first wins and I can play that game if shootin coots is fair.
No duck hunter should live his life without lugging an 870 wingmaster around at least one season. It really is a wingmaster, to me, they named it perfectly. And as tough as a hickory stump too. Thats for me, but I shoot coots and they are tough birds to kill sometimes.

I use 1187 3" SP. Really like it alot and have never had any problems with it. I'm not a very good caretaker for it either. It gets cleaned before season and after, maybe once in-between. Very satisfied. Everyone has his or her opinions about what gun is the best for what we do. My advice is get the gun you want and like that way if it's a disappointment that's your own fault. There will no blame placed on anyone's idea but yours. That's just my opinion, hope it helps.
Sunrise, father by my side, my dog Rebel, the Mallum Masher 1187 SP, the USS Mallumizer, and a big glass of coke & Turkey 101. Doesn't get much better for me.

I have had a Benelli(ejector pin stayed broken) Browing 3.5 Gold(stayed jammed) then two years ago bought a Beretta 391 no trouble what a sweet gun no matter whether it is doves, ducks, or turkeys I can assure you there is nothing finer.

Might as well post my .02 worth. With the advice of some members on this board, bought a Beretta this year. Hands down the best semi-auto I have ever owned. For that matter, the best shotgun I have ever owned.
Have been through Rem. 1100, 1187 & 870, Mossberg 835, Win. 1300, and none compare to the Beretta.

I HAVE OWNED THE BERRETTA AND THE BENELLI AND THEY ARE GREAT GUNS. I SHOOT SO MUCH DURING A SEASON THAT I CAN ACTUALLY WEAR A GUN OUT. I SHOT A WINCHESTER X2 THIS YEAR AND COULDN'T MAKE IT JAM. DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH COLD WEATHER TO SEE IF IT WOULD FREEZE BUT AM VERY SATISFIED. MY BACKUP GUN IS AN 10 GAUGE BPS. BOAT PADDLE\SHOVEL\SLEDGE HAMMER\PRY BAR.
