Some of you guys might think this sounds funny and some of you may know what I mean but the guy that I hunt with the most when we hunt together I cant call worth a dang. Now he can call em in and he swears by a Haydel(although I wouldntevertell him that).I can go with anybody else or by myself and if the ducks are half way wanting to work I usally can make em put skid marks in the air, but with him they either fly on by or when he hits them last they break and turn around.......... beats the heck outta me ............. i use Greg Hood calls or Southern game calls. I also own 1 Roy Rhode call I won at a DU event. Gregs calls are easy to blow and won't freeze up.

Some of you guys posted that you called to ducks this past year....this means you actually saw some,WOW! Must have some kinda honey hole
Seriously though, I use Echo for range, Roy Rhodes if not so far, and a homemeade call up close. By far, my favorite call is a piece of surgical tubing tied to a tree and a string with 4 dekes on it.

OLD Southern Game Calls and Echos. RNT and Gaston are growing on me, but have not earned a spot yet to retire one of my "first team" calls.

Uncle Walt, you are correct sir.
I've been there a couple of times
and the calls never come out of my
coat. On those rare occasions I think
I can call I use an old Shur Shot deluxe.
I also have a DR-85, but if they're that
far away, its coffee time.

i started on a mallardtone in 77 and moved to a single reed hartley in 1979. I never was allwed to blow the MT in the blind. The hartley's or "southland" calls were turned by old man hartley in Leland. It is sooooft - hence the name softcall. It was great for the last two or three passes. I primarily use Greg Hood's calls now. I have a cut down acrylic that's gr8 in the timber and sloughs. I use a banded little joel in open water and fields. If I blow anything but a single reed, I'll get dizzy, pass out, fall off in the drink, and drown.
By the way - Hambone is a duck when he blows the hambone.

My Dad started me out(way back yonder) on a Mallardtone, which I still use and I also like a Yentzen double reed.
BUT Uncle Walt and Judd Irland have already stated the two best calls there is. So, the rest of us should just pay attention.
