gottahunt......
i was saying from the perspective that the only thing that kept us from making those few catches were ourselves, ie. drops/bad throws.....
our defense intercepted those passes, they weren't blown plays where they just missed the reciever or the wide open reciever dropped the ball.....

I agree with you. UM D did their job.
I think your #10 game note on another post sums it up.

PoMonkey, I think you might be right...notice I said pummelled, not simply beat cause I think an MSU W is possible, only place I'm think GT is clearly better than State is WR (Calvin Johnson is a flat out STUD), but Norwood makes up for that difference he's better than P.J. but not by a whole lot, O-line might be a problem though...it hurts to say this but GT may not be a title contender, but that's because they're in a league with VT, F$U, and Miami, they are definitely a top 25 team right now....
Nobody said Auburn lacked talent it's the execution that proved to be the problem...Saturday could go either way....

This week is the one road SEC upset I thought would be a possibility for State. The only thing though I was not counting on Auburn losing the first one. Beating Auburn is still more than a possibility (that is why they play the game) but, the Tigers recieved a big wake up call.

"the Tigers recieved a big wake up call."
Yep, they are waking up to the same cold, hard reality that the Rebs did last season. Losing a great QB and expecting to keep on trucking in the fast lane by plugging in an inexperienced replacement is the delusional fantasy of brain washed fans and the media idiots who bought into it as well. Throw in the losses of 2 1st Rd. NFL draft pick RBs and the unrealistic expectations become a part of Alice in Wonderland.
The Hogs have not had their reality check yet ----- mercifully, they started with a directional Div. 1 AA Missouri School. But, it is coming on September 17.

Hell's coming, and he'll be riding a Trojan horse.

The only difference is AU will have a winning season and go to a Bowl game.

i can agree with that...
one more difference, Tubs is about 3x the coach Cut was/is; that never hurts, nor does a good defense

"The only difference is AU will have a winning season and go to a Bowl game."
Now, Webbmaster, that hurt.

Auburn MAY go to a bowl game. I would not say WILL at this point. Lets see what happens v MSU this Saturday. The GT game may just have been a wake up call for a sleeping giant, or it could have been a foreshadowing of things to come. The bullies and the rest of us are going to find out this Saturday, all at MSU's expense or glory.

I WILL say it. They'll win 6 games with ease.
Their schedule is easier than Ole Pisses....don't get me wrong, I hope they lose them all. I just call it like I see it. And we all know thats right.

All is not lost forAuburn, since they lost one game their in the running for a NC

Going undeated is unlucky for them.
Po Monkey, I believe that starting out with a charity game is wise, Look at what happens when a good talented teams opens with a decent mid major, its either way close or an at home upset that sours the rest of the whole season. The piggies showed about 20% of their package on both sides of the ball. They now play Vandy with a talented QB, and thats about all. I say we win by 17 and we'll know much more about our defense, but I do not expect to see the full package, I think it will be saved for Alabama, We are the qb killer for them.
I am somewhat sane, I expect we hang with USC for about a quarter. Then again, Mobilehoma happens.

Alright... alright... alright... I held my tongue/fingers when it was said that my Jackets were no better than MSU (an insult in itself)... but referring to them as "a decent mid-major"!?!?

In my sports vocabulary, "mid-major" refers to a 1-AA or 2nd tier 1-A conference - like Conference USA, Mountain West, etc. How does the ACC - with FSU, Miami, Va Tech, Virginia, NC State, Clemson and Ga Tech qualify as a mid-major?
As far as the game with Auburn... we deserved that victory because we flat outplayed them on both sides of the ball. I will be interested to see if State's defense (that is "close to being equal" to Tech's) can hold Auburn to 50 yards rushing, force 2 fumbles and intercept the ball 4 times.
As far as Norwood being as good as or better than PJ Daniels, he
may be, but don't forget Daniels led the ACC in rushing two years ago and played most of last year hurt. He is finally healthy again and hung a hundred on Auburn's defense.
Also, Conner's legs may be as good as Reggie's, but not his arm. Reggie's problem has always been in between his ears when he tries to force throws and win every game by himself. If the Auburn game is an indication, it looks like he's finally playing smarter and learned when to throw the ball away.
Gordon had it right, though... State's biggest problem with Auburn will be their offensive line is
not as good as Tech's. Those defensive ends Auburn has can flat out fly - so I hope State's working on their counters to capitalize on the ends' tendency to over-pursue and Conner's ready to roll out an throw on the run.
Now, we'll probably go and lose to UNC this weekend... but I had to stand up for my boys.

Vandy and MSU is in the SEC but they ain't a decent mid major. Many good D-1AA schools would hand Vandy its booty. Georga Tech is at best in the middle of your conference's road at the end of the year. My damn Piggies been playing like a mid major for about 15 years now, thats gonna change soon.
I was referring to Memphis States, and the TCUs of the road, I consider GT a major.
Consider yourself this, if the NCAA proposed a Super Division of 64 teams and go to a playoff system, I think GT makes the cut as does Ark and Ole miss, MSU AND VANDY, Kentucky out in the cold, Southern Miss would make it before MSU.

Well, so much for my thoughts that State might pull an upset this week.

Pretty hard to upset anyone if you can't even score.
Daaaaammmmmmmmm. WTF???????
This is why I don't gamble on college sports. Auburn QB last week throws 4 interceptions and looks and smells like months old tuna salad. ditto their OL and running game. This week, he was pretty solid and protected the ball much better. With that Auburn D, it was good enough to get an easy win over State. More than covered the point spread. What a difference a week makes.
