I deliver the newspaper every morn and sometimes I`m done by 0400-0530, so it`s hard to be on any type of schedule. I usually hunt alone and am putting in at Cannon Creek when Labluvr passes on his way to work. I have better luck later in the day than in the early morn when the skybusters have enough targets to keep them on the water. Smaller spreads are more productive later and I`m alone. Works for me....

Well im way out in left field I think I hunt everything but ducks by myself. People ask me all the time why in the hell do I go out when its cold in the water to shoot a bird. But I tell them its the only huntin I do where I can cut up between flights and talk and have a good time with who Im huntin with. I can go out and not even pull the trigger and still come home and say I had a good hunt. Know what I mean!

I almost prefer hunting alone and usually end up that way anyhow becuse the yahoo's that want me to "take 'em somewhere" don't show up. Just as well, because I don't want any help putting out the dekes or picking them up. I want them set out and then later, wrapped up a certain way. I'm sure it'll get worse the older I get.
I also agree with Duckkilla that three or more is usually a mistake. Too many moonpie faces lookin' around. It'll work in certain blind set-ups, but not in a boat for sure.
I've always felt that there must be a certain amount of anti-social tendencies in all dedicated hunters. Anyone here would raher be hunkered down in the marsh than be at a dress up Christmas party. While duck hunting can be a little social what about deer hunting? Sitting in a tree for hours? I'd rather do that than work, that's for sure.

Jeff, I hope you didn't take my first sentence the wrong way. The people that always want to go duck hunting with me do not want to follow the rules and regulations, such as shooting lead, taking over the limit, etc., so I consider them to be a hassle. My brother is a big duck hunter like myself, but I can't hunt with him because he gets the thrill out of breaking hunting regs and I don't.

if I had a setup like the Judge, I'd hunt alone with my dog on occasion. But since I hunt mostly on public land in a backwater swamp, where getting in the ducks and away from knuckle heads requires going in deep, it's just not safe to go it alone. You can bury the 4wheeler, fall in a beaver run, etc. in a heartbeat out there.
Besides, I've hunted without my partner, and it just aint as fun. You need someone to laugh at you when you miss the easy shot or accidentally blow some poptart in your duck call.

I always go with my partner, just he's not a human and doesn't typically get my jokes.

Sometimes the solitude is nice and others it's boring. For me it just depends on the action that day I guess

I am enjoying the hunts by myself more and more these days. I hope to hunt more with family next season though!

hunt alone alot. me and the dog have seen a many a sunrise this season. a good buddy, and brother normally join me, but that's it. i don't like a lot of gun's swinging in the air at the same bird. that's just me.

I hunt with just me and the dog alot. My schedule is more flexable than most. I do like to go with a freind or two when they can. Bigest problem I have is my wife hates it when I go by myself. So I think I'm going to teach my dog to drive.

So far I haven't had to go solo this year. I usually bum 4-wheeler rides from my partners and haven't had to go at it alone. I certainly would, but given my terrible calling ability I would favor partners.
I think duck hunting is funner as a group (usually no more than 4).
