DU Oreck vac!!!

Postby Redhead » Tue Jan 29, 2002 10:13 am

Whats the big deal about Oreck making a donation to DU? You probably drive your (DU) Chevy to the blind While drinking a few (DU)Budweisers and wearing your (DU)Advantage camo and hunt over(DU)flambeau Deeks and shoot, or at least carry with you, your (DU)Winchester Ammo. While your dog wears an (DU) Innotek Collar. Most of wich were probably charged on your (DU)MBNA Charge Card. Why can't your wife stay home and use your (DU)Oreck?

We would all be surprised to know who donates to and supports DU. Thanks To all who do!

Ducks Unlimited is in the Conservation Business and Fund Raising is the way the have accomplished what they have.

I Do support DU and will continue to and I would hope that most of you do also!

So Redhead, is this why they tried to sneak a couple a billion out of a farm bill that would take $$ straight out of the MS delta rice farmers? Hince the reason several DU events were canceled this past year??

Since I'm not a farmer why dont you let us all know what bill you are referring to and how it would effect the farmers.

Also what events were canceled?

I don't know all the facts yet. But what I do know is that Cleveland, Shelby, Rosedale, and Drew all canceled the DU event. They even ran full page ads, paid by DU that read CANCELED in local papers. It had to do with a farm bill that would take money from the rice farmer and a bunch of WRP Rules, and that DU would have gotten a couple billion out of it? I do believe something will be coming out soon.

That bill was posed in a farm week newspaper.
Someone posted it on here early in the season. From what i could inderstand- it took the money in the pot away from the farmers , and put it into wrp or crp. DU was a big part of getting that done.On this particular deal, they simply bit the hand that has fed DU for sometime, the farmer.THis will make some interesting reading in the months to come, the farm bill is still being discussed in washington.

Yes RedHead it is true, way to much to explain for my pitiful typing ability, but one thing I do know for sure is that Stuttgart not only cancelled their banquet with DU but withdrew their entire chapter! Thats what you might call a message!

DU is not a popular organization with farmers these days. I know some South Delta planters that have given literally hundreds of thousands of dollars that won't give a dime to them any more. The banquet I went to this year was pathetic. It's funny how many kids run around with the little duck head outline on the back of their truck and not even know what it represents to the farmers, which in some cases is there dad.
DU has hit their stride in the marketing arena and are not slowing down anytime soon. More power to 'em but not a dime from me (or some silly ass vaccum cleaner).
On another note. Hunted about 48 days this season and the best two were last Friday and yesterday. 68 to 70 degrees both times?? Going back for more right now.

I don't know about any of you other guys but I am tired of arguing over DU and there dealings and possible misdealings. Iam with everyone else on the Delta Waterfowl. I will be a member shortly.

I saw some one post saying that we probably wear our (DU) advantage camouflauge. That is just one more reason to leave DU. They have "disadvantage" as their official camo. Let's face it folks who in MS wears that crap. IF it ain't Mossy Oak it ain't camo.

Maybe if enough people leave DU they will see where they went wrong and will change their ways.

In the latest DU Don Young makes an attempt at trying to explain DUs position.
It's on page 8, "Farming the Flyways".
Short and simple DU has always taken $$ from farmers in the way of donations, be it land, labor, equipment, dollars, etc... Probably there biggest donation was dollars and land.
This time DU tried to by-pass the farmer and dip into the pot that the farmer depends on. Basically DU figured why only get a portion of the farmers alotment when we can possibly get a larger alotment for ourselves.
Now I know there a hundred arguments about farmer's subsidizes etc.. I'm not debating the fairness of that or anything else. I'm simple stating what DU tried to do here, be it right or wrong.
It does amaze me though, What the hell were they thinking? I would hope whomever the brainchild was behind this was fired, this has got to be costing them millions.

It has not been but about 4 years that Hernando has had a chapter. I know most of the guys that started that chapter. The chapter started off that year with a big greenwing event. The guys really worked hard to make it a fun and eventful day for the youngfolks.
That is the direction to stay on course.
