My wife teaches 6th grade. She'll tell you that 99% on the "No Paddle" list have no home training and the parents are more to blame than anyone. Discipline is taken out of context from the teacher to the kids to the parent.

BWM, my kids are on the 'do not paddle' list. For several reasons.. If they are in that much trouble, I will be the one to handle it. It's my job as a parent. I know the principle at my kids' schools. They do call. And my kids do know that I will come to the school and take care of any situation. Immediately.

But they also know that I will come to the school and protect them from situations... which has happened.

My mother taught in Mississippi for 31 years. My grandmother for 29 years. It's not the same now as it was then. Back then, we knew every teacher. Every one at the school. Now, everyone is too transient - teachers and students. It makes a differnce.

I'll bust that butt if it is needed. But dont lay a hand on my child without my permission, or there will be hell to pay...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

My child will not mess up for the simple reason she knows i know everyone in her school from the pricipal on down. She does not want me called up there. but as to your ? I will give you this insite. I went to Grenada high in 1984. there was an assitant principal there by the name of kellum that loved to paddle your booty. i mean it was bad. if you messed up you had had it. Four years latter there was a special one night by Geraldo on satanic accults. That night I found out the rest of the story. mr. Kellum was the high priest in an accult that was based around here. He was useing his 3yr. old son in satanic rituals with other men and was sodomizing the child with cone shaped wooden instruments. beatings also. This was in ritual meetings with others in the area. his wife and son are now in witness protection and he is still in hiding and has never been found.

Yes I did say he was Our assitant principal and trusted by our parents as we took sometimes daily beatings in his office. To my understanding this was not some fly by night cult, but a big deal in the US. So do you really know all of your childrens teachers, or do you REALLY KNOW THEM!

i have been paddled a few times in my 15 years

i go to a private school and they woop you if it is bad enough and hardly anyone there wants that (big principal)

i know that when i was in 2nd grade (age 8-9) i got paddled and i hardly hurt but yes i didn't go tell my dad until i was bout 13 or so

but i agree with tunica even though i don't have any kids. but i wouldn't want my kids getting touched by someone i haven't given permission to.

MemphisStockBroker, when my wife worked for Big T, as you mentioned at your kids school, she never had a problem. He dealt with it. My mom taught in the class room for 28 years too. With my wife teaching, it's disturbing to hear them compare the old days to today.

I am more speaking of the parents who pick up their kids from school after a conflict, hear their side of the story, and cuss at my wife and her peer teachers through the open car window. Some of which have already been kicked out of the local private school for obvious reasons. My neighbor teaches with my wife and she has had a parent tell her that she could expect her on her front porch after school. . . . These are the types I am talking about, the ones that are not going to be dealt with at home.

Judging by your character on this board, I don't think that describes you or your child at all ! That's why I said 99%. Sorry for any mis-interpetations.
