Saw two the other mornin' on Sardis, they came suprisingly close to me. One even flew about 5 feet over my decoys.

Guess they were TRYIN' to kill ducks too!!!

According to the game warden we have the oldest active eagle nest in the state of AR. Just like NO HERE said we got one that when he is around wont let a cripple stay on the water very long. They are amazing to watch and have provided some much needed entertainment on an otherwise slow duck season. Rules from the Game Warden are no hunting within a thousand yards of the nest, and believe me he checks for that on a regular basis. I dont have a problem with that though, because he checked everybody's license the first time and has'nt asked for it since.

active eagle nest over by the levee west of eagle lake...been there for year...seen a few north of eagle lake....

in the early 50 there were lots of eagles and nest in the southern delta...the mature birds would come back each year to the same nest and just build it higher in the forks of large cypress trees.....the limbs would be huge,,,and the nest 5-10 feet thick...

but ddt...in the fields...and the talls cypress trees are not gone...so are the eagles...but they are native to all 50 states....

take care

Hey feedcall - been trying to call you. Saw more ducks this weekend but they are spooky as hell. I saw an eagle this weekend on our place. I had seen a pair two years ago but thought they were gone. I rounded the turn on the levee and there he was about 75 yards from me on the ground. Damn thing was bigger than my kid and was fully mature...real cool! Let's go have a totty in Greenwood this weekend.

For the record....the eagles in our are don't like ringed-neck ducks. 'Had some buzz us 3 differnt times on a slow morning last year. One cripple swam out to the open water before the dog could get back with the other 5 and old baldy scooped him up....'got 'bout 30 feet in the air with it and opened the bomb-bay doors.......sploosh!! Back in the river. The second eagle (of the pair) made his/her descent and pulled outa her dive 'bout 10' off the water..... Uh-uh.....'ain't gonna be burpin' no greasy meat, tonight....you duck hunters can have this thing....I ain't touchin' it!) It was a sight to behold......realizin' eagles have preferences like some of us.
