But don’t anyone else start doing this. I don’t want to the few ducks around to get wise to my tactic.
At this point in the game i will try anything!

Buddy went today in a field near our timber. Said a few thousand were using it. Mostly pintails and teal. Said they were hard to work. Hey, it was pintails what do you expect ? Maybe some new birds are starting to move in for the final few weeks

Long range forecast calls for a high of 40 next Sunday. Maybe that will finally push them down.

Worst season that I can remember. My 2018 license got me through the opener before expiring in early December. I did not even buy a duck hunting license this year. First time in 25 years of hunting that has ever happened. Kept getting reports of single digit kills and never went back to camp. Sad days...

I have deer hunted pretty much exclusively this year barring the first two weekends of duck season and a squirrel trip with the kid. Have been watching the turkey flock all season with the anticipation of a virgin on prom night. I can't wait to see these SOBs when I have a shotgun in hand.

I have seen three die this season as of Saturday, should have been 4 but one was a miss...

This hot turkey season is making up for a lack luster duck season!! 8)

You might be right. I don't know anything about turkey hunting but I called one up this afternoon just messing around walking with abox call. That sucker was fired up. That was entirely too cool

Nice.

I’m too scared to ever do that. Haha

This one experience will lead to many new purchases of gear, guns, leases, ect. Also some marital "discomfort" in the spring. Congrats.

Some? My wife now refers to turkeys as little gobbling devils! I don’t understand it either, ducks/deer don’t bother her that much. Hell I can’t even order a turkey sandwich without a fight.

Ain’t much like it in the world for sure!

My excitement was short lived and my well laid out plan fell apart. My son and I went last Saturday with visions of fried turkey legs in our minds. Walked the whole place trying to locate him and not a peep.

Being a turkey neophyte, will a strong cold front cause them to clam up? Sort of like ducks do sometimes?

It sure can. Try a good, high pressure day after a front comes through. Those are usually my best days. Should have some of those coming up.
