Chris Stapleton
Re: Chris Stapleton
Anybody who can rock a DAC cover like that has my vote. I'm glad fla/ga line came on next so people could see how far country has fallen.

He is great, and he does a great job covering Tennessee Whiskey!! Really bluesy, soulful voice!!
I agree with cwink above, country isn't really country anymore and I catch myself listening to the classics more and more. Occasionally there's a new song or two that comes out that's okay but nice to have a modern day guy that sounds similar to the older stuff. Heck he even looks the part of the older guys ha!
Tennessee Whiskey is an Old George Jones hit..

I am surprised, though, that he has gotten so much mainstream acclaim and I've never heard of him. What gives? How does he win these awards and country radio not play his stuff? Or how does radio not play his stuff if he is so popular?
The awards he won were not voted on by the fans but by the people in country music. He has been at it a long time and written and cowritten a TON of songs for many that were there at the awards show. With that being said.....he is good but should he have won all the awards he won???? In my opinion it was a gesture by all the ones he has written for. He will not win any awards when voted by the fans.
To me he is Jamie Johnson without the hit songs you would know and he didn't win many awards. Like I said he has helped a ton of artists by writing songs and I think it was their way of saying thank you.

How these people in the crowd stayed seated the whole time I Do Not know. They must be dead inside.

Re: Chris Stapleton
David Allen Coe sang it first. Wasn't as bluesy/soulful but still solid.

Re: Chris Stapleton
Well now I'm upset I missed him in Greenville last month. Had heard about that fest but had no idea who all was going. Had my mind more on chasing deer I suppose.
