My wife has always asked why I am always complaining about my ears ringing. I told her the other day it sounds just like those things but 24-7 365.

After reading the posts to this thread, I got to looking around my yard. And sure enough, in the backyard, there isn't a single one of these things anywhere on the ground or on a tree/bush/fence/etc. below about two feet in elevation. There isn't even any evidence of cicadas at all in that region! But! From there on up, these bugs are everywhere. That being said, outside of the fence, we have no such cicada free zone.
Now, I am not accusing anybody of anything. However, the lap yapper has probably gained about 2 pounds since they've made their arrival. He hasn't slowed down none, but 2 pounds on a 5 pound dog is a lot of weight. I'm just sayin'.

From the sound of my woods, there must be millions of cicadas. It's incredible to think that they have lain underground for well over a decade, waiting for this time to emerge simultaneously.

My dad walks his pointer around at night with a flashlight looking for her some to eat. Said it's good protein for a huntin' dog haha. She ate 72 one night...

So loud I can hear them ABOVE the din of ringing ears. I kind of enjoy it.
