I had initially thought that Ole Miss would beat Arkansas and lose a tight one to State. After seeing the team that went into Fayetteville, I don't think so. I knew the Arkansas game was over when Mathers is so mentally unprepared that he catches the kickoff and runs out of bounds on the 2. First time I've seen the Rebels that mentally unprepared under Freeze.
I really think the Auburn loss hurt the Ole Miss psyche far more than they're willing to admit. And, frankly, it's easy to see why. That game was essentially a quarter-final playoff game - loser would have 2 losses and would not be playoff-eligible. And Ole Miss lost it in about the worst possible way to lose a game without using the word "Buckner" in it.
To play off the baseball theme, that loss for the Rebels was like the Cardinals' loss in Game 6 to the Royals in the 1985 World Series (the infamous Denkinger blown call). Game 7 - Royals 11, Cardinals 0; they just couldn't recover. Same with the Rebels this year.
State 24, Ole Miss 7

IMO States best shot at the playoff is if they beat UM and Bama loses the iron bowl. Without winning the conference championship game, I'd put their odds of being included in the top four around 1 in 5.

Well this is a game that I see has already been won. Might as well not even step out on the field. You see once ole miss was out of it for the most part ole freeze decided he would take his team to big gumbo land of the tree houses or what not as unprepared as he possibly could and just basically take one across the chin in a heavy weight fight. Everybody in the country thinks Ole Miss is down for the count. When in reality Treadwell doesn't even have a broke leg. Nkemdechie does not have a broken ankle. Took a page out of Mullens play book from last year with Dak. All these players are back and that's why practice was closed. Well they will all come out and play last as the last three weeks. At the end of the first half it will be 31-2 for state. Then all these players come back at the start of the second half. Ole Miss then goes on to route MSU with a final score of 51-31. Ole Miss will have the ball for 7 drives and convert all touchdowns in the second half. Sheer Genius. Freeze goes on to win SEC coach of the year.
Then reality struck
MSU 31. Ole Miss 35

Well the dawgs can pull for war eagles I rekon. I still think they get in if they take care of ole miss. Lucky for the west champ is the fact mizzou beat Arkansas so they are in and Georgia has to sit in the top 10 and just watch. Without a state win it doesn't matter. Maybe the lucky war eagles will show up!!!

Worst playcalling I've seen all season. Congrats to Ole Miss. Gift wrapped win due to stupidity.

My prediction based on IFs.... IF the OM team comes out flat and unmotivated, which I'm not sure they will.. Then it may be a 10+ point win for the dawgs. IF Bad Bo shows up, then the crowd may turn in him quickly.... History has shown when he is off his game, he is way off.... But when he is on, he is hard to beat. IF they come out pumped up... And play the kind of football they are capable of, then they will be a hard team to beat in their own house. A 230 game is not as big as a 630 game from a crowd factor I think.
I don't think State is going to have trouble getting up for this game, they know what's on the line and what they have to lose. I think the burden is on Freeze to get his team prepared throughout this portion of adversity for the OM program, how good of a job he does at that will be the deciding factor on whether or not the Rebels put themselves in a position to win.
Well looks like I was wrong on one thing.... State was definitely not up for this game for whatever reason. OM was and Freeze was clearly able to motivate and put together a better game plan than State had tonight. I think they basically played the same as they did against Alabama... flat until the second half. Missed tackles and poor play calling, especially early in the game was the highest thing I took away from it. Congrats to OM they played hard all night and as said above has one of the better if not the best D in the country.

As a Hog fan, I just had to interject this simple reminder, since the bears/sharks/preppies, etc. memory fades so fast----Ark. - 30 UM - 00000000000000
