Re: Need some help from Jackson area doctors (Updated)
Guys I appreciate all the advice and help we received from this post. I will post a quick summary how everything unfolded. We finally got in to see Dr. Stringer after seeing him it was going to be a little over month later before we could get to the endocrinologist. She was getting frustrated and at the rate things were moving it was probably going to be Sept. or later till surgery would happen Also she wanted to have transnasal endoscopic approach (through the nose) which Dr. Stringer didn't do.
She made an appointment at MD Anderson and they were going to do everything in 1 week, therefore we were prepared to travel. One of my wife’s best friend is a NP at UMC and she decided to contact him to see in any neurosurgeons did the transnasal endoscopic approach. Within two days he had us set up with an appointment with a endocrinologist and Dr. Ray Dios at UMC. Dr. Ray Dios studied under Dr. Parent (mentioned earlier). Last Wed. she had surgery, a 2.5 hour surgery turned into a 6 hour surgery (I was one nervous husband that day). Turns out she had a pretty rare cyst composed of cerebral spinal fluid that was nearly 3 cm in size. Dr. Ray Dios told us that he met with Dr. Parent to discuss it and Dr. Parent had only seen this type of cyst a handful of times in 30 years.
She is home now and is slowly getting better. Her cortisone levels dropped to 1.1 in the hospital so it is taking some time to recover. I hope and pray we don't ever have to go through this again.
