Not real sure what he's going to be appropriating. Most likely more printed money into the pockets of donors and political contacts. Come on guys,
the fat cat old timers up there have long run their course. Both parties spend money like it's unlimited. It's time to tighten the belt and get off the
government teet, and especially in Ms. Put an end to the federal gravy train. Cochran is not the answer to that. Only money Ms needs from the
fed is for what the founders intended. Military and infastructure ONLY!. Not sure how increasing the federal deficit is considered a boon for Ms
or any other state for that matter.

I understand your frustration and the double egged sword, but these bills and legislation that are passed have funds and other special interest funding that goes to "The Great State of Mississippi". Seniority gets us these. I am all for getting rid of all of them up there, but the truth is, Thad brings money to Mississippi. Money that if not here, we wouldn't be as well off as we are now. That's a fact. I have several good friends in Washington and they all reiterate the point that MS is very(extremely) poor when it comes to funding. Without a lot of what he has gotten us, we wouldn't have what we do now...and that ain't much.
Re: McDaniel v Cochran - Thoughts
I call BS on this. Our elected representatives are there to allocate funds for their home states as well as others. It's a scratch my back I'll scratch yoursdeltadukman wrote:I understand your frustration and the double egged sword, but these bills and legislation that are passed have funds and other special interest funding that goes to "The Great State of Mississippi". thing. You send all those dug in ticks home and send fresh meat into that town and we might get some control on this run away train. Keep electing what
we have up there now, and we will keep getting more of the same. More out of control spending and debt. Bringing home money for Ms should not be
a deciding factor in electing an representative of this state. That mentatlity is inherantly the problem with our country today. Arguing about spending
money or cutting spending is a loosing battle in this country. Looks like everyone is tied to the spending/debt wagon and there's no turning back.
If Cochran has so many fresh new ideas for growing Ms and the US why is he scared to have a debate with McDaniel? Guess he thinks he's above
these little people of MS and he's supposed to be handed the election on a golden platter. That arrogance is enough for me to vote for the other guy.

Oh I'm voting for McDaniel, but what I said is truth. Seniority gets things done on the hill. I don't necessarily agree with it, but its the way it is. Without a fresh clean slate across the board, we have to compromise at times.
Also, in Thad's seat, the winner of the Republicans will still have to face Travis Childers. The sentiment "Back home on the campaign trail" as reported by those on the hill are "if you currently have a desk in Washington, then your constituents want you back home". Which Republican Candidate has the best shot at beating Childers?
While kicking them all out of office and replacing everyone up there with gun toting Republican Conservatives and Libertarians, the truth is that's a pipe dream based upon the rest of the country and their voting history. We have to work with what we've got.

Personally so fed up with all of them that I'm willing to take a chance on anyone new getting the seats....preferably a Republican though. Does Childers really have a shot?

Childers is pretty much the only democrat. Thad's poles look week and have both Childers and McDaniel over him.
Re: McDaniel v Cochran - Thoughts
i'm in the same boat rj...prefer republican, but fed up w/status quo. growing up on a row crop/catfish farm (and in the ag industry, presently), it is a heavy hearted choice to make between thad's loyalty to agriculture and the need for new direction in dc.

Re: McDaniel v Cochran - Thoughts
What you say is true, but the problem is that we have 100 senators and over 500 Representatives that are all playing the same game. Everyone is trying to get pork projects for their districts and doing so at the expense of the Federal Budget. I don't think that anyone up there is really looking out for the best interest of the nation as a whole. It's all one big political game of get re-elected.deltadukman wrote:I understand your frustration and the double egged sword, but these bills and legislation that are passed have funds and other special interest funding that goes to "The Great State of Mississippi". This is a disheartening article about Cochran, Barbour and what appears to be Cronyism. I hope that what is alleged therein is not true.

Jackson Jambalaya posted a similar story recently

That being said, your article eludes to the fact that the empty lots and slabs on the coast are related to cronyism and corruption. This is what I hate about the media. They say stuff like that to make it sound like is part of the issue. It's not. Those empty slabs are a result of people either taking the insurance money and not building back, or not having insurance at all.

Re: McDaniel v Cochran - Thoughts
Article just solidifies what we already know.......MOST politicians are currupt evil people looking out for their own interests and
not the people who elect them.
