I've gone from no carts to two carts in three months. Best of all, both have been Free. :)

1992 Club Car DS Electric (6-6v USB 2200) - 100% stock

2005 Yamaha G22A Gas limo - lifted on 23" tires

Club Car would be the better option as CC is all aluminum. Now, as we all know, aluminum doesn't flex, so you tend to deal with cracked welds on the CC. Everybody else is steel frames that will handle the abuse better, but your dealing with rusting.

I got the CC first and it needed batteries. Never really knew if the charger was working and after troubleshooting, I bought a brand new E Series from Lester for $250 shipped to my door. For electric, 48V would be best. Even the stock 36V CC motor can run on 48v. If you buy a 36v cart, you can easily put two more 6v batteries in the bagwell to make 48v. but you need to upgrade to a 48V charger too.

I'm hoping to go pickup the G22A Saturday. It needs a starter/generator and carb. About $300 in parts to get it running and moving. From there, changing parts to calm my perfectionist mentality.

I'm still going to prefer a gas and is what I wanted all along. I just couldn't turn down the free DS when it came across. I accidently left the key ON on the DS and batteries drained. Had to pull it home with my tractor. Then had to fight chargers because the voltage was to low to kick on the chargers. 36V charger needs atleast 25v before the charger will turn on. The 12v auto chargers are more picky in the voltage needed. I ended up having to wire two batteries in series and use my 12v charger in Manual mode to get enough voltage for the 36V charger to start charging.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other (gas vs. elec). The gas carts are super quiet, so noise isn't a problem and they are quieter than an ATV. If you do go electric, PLUG IT IN AFTER EVERY USE. I repeat, PLUG IT IN AFTER EVERY USE. These batteries do not retain a memory, so there is no need to fully discharger then recharge to maintain capacity. PLUG IT IN AFTER EVERY USE to make sure your 100% charged.
