Tico's or like someone said cook her dinner, my wife and I usually just pick out something new to cook and cook it together, we don't do the whole waste a crap of ton of money thing for Valentine's day, of course some wives are a little more demanding, I'm fortunate she's not

We ate there 2 weeks ago tonight. It was very good. I got hamburger steak and loved it. Several got steaks and said they were really good. The tamales were real good............and the dessert was phenomenal. Service was really good too. Looked over on the wall and realized a guy in a deer pic with Peyton Manning was sitting there eating with us. Come to find out......he was Peyton's center for 4 years at Tennessee.......Interesting conversations ensued.

Cook something nice at home or grab a bottle of wine and take her to Gibb's.

I'll third Gibbs store. It is a bit of trip so you can make an adventure out of it. As for the Mermaid, I've been there three times. I would not eat there if it was free.
Of course a steak at home with some onions and sauteed mushrooms and side of good garlic cheese grits is hard to beat and cheaper. If you get in a real bind, I've got a quart of duck gumbo I can drop off.

I just told my wife to book something and tell me when and where. I view Valentine's day the same as plumbers. It's probably gonna cost me a little more than doing it myself, but it's worth it not to deal with it myself.

One year, I just did not want to go out in all the fuss period. Met my gf, at school gave her a gift card to go shop for something "sexy" and don't come home until 730...(she still had her old apartment rented...so she could relax if needed)
Meanwhile I went bought two thick cut T-bones from the butcher shop, baked some potatoes , and killed the lights and lit some candles....everything was hot and ready when she came home ...and had her real present in between the two candles..
Worked ok for me
