Re: Saban Has Finalized A Deal With...
I think there are real negotiations going on right now between Jimmy Sexton, Saban and a faction of the UT administrators. I think Saban wants to be there...I think the new Texas AD wants Saban there...but I think the School President in bogging things up because of his support for Mack Brown. Once that hurdle is cleared, I think there is a strong chance that Saban is the new coach at UTexas.
It seems as though all of this information about home purchases, private jets and the like could easily be cleared up by Sexton if it were not true, or if they are not putting the screws to Bama for more money. The problem with the later is that everyone knows that Bama will pay Saban whatever he wants will little resistance. Therefore, the fact that he has not signed an extension is a little odd.

Now message board rumors are that Sexton did meet with UT officials and that they either could not reach an agreement or that the president is not going to allow Brown to be fired. In either scenario, the supposed insiders are saying that Mack is staying and that Saban is not leaving.

Some say that both Brown and the Pres of UT are gone, but who knows. A lot of talk about him stepping down this week. I say if it's gonna happen it will happen before the end of next week. We shall see.

No one knows what is going on...
What we do know:
- Brown says reports of him stepping down are false (as of today)
- Saban has made no comment on the matter this week
- Sexton has made no comment on the matter this week
- The new Texas AD has made no comment on the matter this week
- The Alabama AD has made no comment

I'm still doubting that Saban heads to Texas, but this is very interesting to watch unfold.

If Saban were to take the Texas job, I wonder how many of the 5 star recruits he has ready to sign in the current Bama class come with him? I bet it will be more than a couple.

Re: Saban Has Finalized A Deal With...
Texas did not win the Big 12, thus there is a strong likilihood that Mack Brown will now be relieved of his duties as head coach --- he will either step down, or be fired.
And Bama lost to Auburn, so there is no BCS title game for Bama to keep Saban in place until the end of the season.
Now, the mutual interest between UT and Saban has some time to marinate. The perfect storm is forming. Will it strike in the form of a red tide?
Insiders at UT indicate that the Board of Regents of Texas is meeting this week to discuss/decide the future of the UT President (this President is purportedly standing in the way of getting rid of Mack Brown). According to these insiders, this current UT President will be relieved of his duties, and then Mack Brown will be next. This will clear the way for the next head coach to be hired, whether it is Saban or not.
There is reported interest in the job from the Saban camp --- which is consistent with the lack of statements from Saban or his agent at this point specifically denying all the rumours and putting this to rest. The UT insiders say that the Alabama President, Witt (Witt is apparently a UT guy), will be coming back home to Texas to take over as the new President of UT at some point in the near future ( within next 6 months), and that Saban will be hired as UT's next head coach. Saban and Witt reportedly work very well together. There is reportedly some friction between a new female administrator at Bama and Saban.
This is what I am hearing. I have no idea of the validity of it. But, its at least an interesting theory. Only time will tell.
DISCLAIMER:
To the Bama boys here, no need to call me out or engage in personal attacks --- I am only the messenger of this highly speculative, top secret information. I fully realize that no head coach in his right mind would ever even think of leaving the Ala-damn-bama football dynasty, and that the Tide faithful can outbid UT out of its left hip pocket for the services of Saban, if needed. So, there is no need to worry or even sweat about these rumblings. All is well in the dynasty. Nothing to see here but the wishful thinking musings of delusional UT supporters. We can all have a big laugh together when this Tex-mess is all over and the dust has settled.
In the meantime, a lullaby or two for Nick Saban:

Re: Saban Has Finalized A Deal With...
An OKC sports director is saying UT offering $10m per, 10 years plus 1% of LN income.
Apparently, Bama has offered $7m per year.
There is a rumor Texas is offering to buy off some bad debt Saban has from dealings with Baton Gouge real estate goon, Tommy Spinosa. (Perkins Rowe development).

Forget Saban, Texas, and Alabama. The real winner here is Jimmy Sexton.
