subsection (13) of Section 45-9-101” which would include posted premises. While it is not a violation of the concealed weapons
laws to carry in a posted premises it could exceed the scope of the license holder’s invitation if s/he knowingly entered the
premises in violation of the owner’s instructions. The most appropriate charge would therefore be trespassing. See § 97-17-97
Define "knowingly" cause I didn't read the signs at the door....
Edit: I mean, I'll leave....and I won't be back....but I ain't paying for this half eaten burger....

Saw my first OCer today in the pharmacy line at CVS in Flowood.. Standing right behind him was a Flowood PD officer..
Just stood there and shook my head.. These OCers don't get it.. They are going to make it harder for all of us to carry..

Maybe they are feeling the pinch, you know, the extra fees, classes, govt regs and such associated with something that all Mississippians already have the RIGHT to do.
Maybe they don't make their living peddling courses that are or are not needed. So they have a much different opinion than you do.

Good grief, I'm disappointed in the haters with the cheap shots. WTF?
If this thread goes to stink, I say delete it.
I still haven't seen any open carry though.

You don't get it..Those that Open Carry are making it harder for everyone. Have you not seen all the "No Firearms signs" that have popped up since the law went into effect? All this law did was limit the places you could actually carry a gun with just your regular firearms permit AND it also created a gray area for all those that had the Enhanced Carry certificate. The more people that open carry the more signs you will see pop up, then you won't be able to carry anywhere unless you carry concealed and get the IC Sticker..
And as for if the courses are needed? Why don't you ask the Vietnam Vet who served 2 tours in Cambodia, or the former Veteran, JPD officer and attorney, the guy down the street who stopped an intruder in his house and called to thank me for the class, or the numerous other military, law enforcement, judges and attorneys that have come through my class and have stood up at the end of the class and told all the other students that EVERYBODY needs to go through these training classes. As long as they think the classes are needed then I will keep offering them.

Starbucks has jumped on the posted sign wagon. Not that they have ever or will ever get my business, but I though some of you might
think twice about sharing your money with them.

Yeah, I heard this on the radio this morning. This is my point. It wasn't long ago that Starbucks welcomed open carry.. So people started to carry there as noted in the article.. Now, they are having to take that back because of the anti gun people complaining.

I open carried before all this crap and will after. The only reason you see all this is because of the new law writing brought all this to light. Why blame someone who is not breaking the law?????

I wasn't going to post cause I usually sit back and laugh but the OC law has been in affect for a long time but then some big headed attorney wanted to make a big deal about it and then it got a bunch of red flags....if that freakin attorney wouldn't have done that u wouldn't need a concealed carry unless u wanted to. If its concealed what store owner will know its on u. I'm just defending everyones right. I'm a Deputy and I much rather see a guy on sometimes side than have it concealed so I know the danger is there....feel free to blast what I said but I think ur a great guy chad and I agree everyone should go through the class but some things I don't agree with but that its why we ate human cause we all have different opinions

The Open Carry wouldn't bother me except for the fact that we have a media that blasts out ever day that "GUNS ARE BAD". So when things like what happened in DC this week get 24/7 news coverage. Then when little Johnny and his mom go to CVS or Starbucks or the Doctor office and they see 3 or 4 guys walking around with guns on their hips and freak out there comes a time when the store owner is going to put up a sign..
If we didn't have the "No Firearms Sign" issue here in the state I wouldn't care if people open carried.. But the fact that we do means that everytime a sign goes up we loose a little of our 2nd Amendment freedom.. Now if we could get the legislature to take out that part about "Firearms Signs" then I would not have a problem with open carry.. Again to me it is not about Open Carry vs Concealed Carry its about signs vs no signs.. I just think that the more we open carry, the more signs that are going to pop up..
Here is my facebook post from yesterday..
"Well it finally happened.. I saw my first OCer today. While I understand the right to Open Carry, I don't understand the logic of those that wish to do so. I mean why didn't people do it, 6 months ago, or a year ago, or 123 years ago? After all Open Carry was originally granted in MS State Constitution in 1890. The recent change in law that has everyone up in arms was to the Concealed Carry Law of 1972 and the only change was that the firearm had to be "completely concealed". With all the media buzz over the last 6 months, the whole open carry ordeal has only caused more grief for those that want to carry a firearm legally. The first thing that happened were all the "No Firearms signs that popped up everywhere. So now those that want to carry concealed with the Enhanced Carry endorsement are faced with new gray area on whether to carry their firearm into a business that has a "No Firearms" sign. OCers, get your firearms permit, conceal those guns and the signs will come down and we won't have to worry about that gray area anymore."

Just because people in your classes said that "everyone" needs to take them" doesnt make it so. You know Lee Harvey Oswald was a vet right?
Im not judging your classes, hell I have thought about taking one myself. I have not seen the signs because I dont pay attention to that kind of thing. I dont carry a pistol in the store to eat or buy my groceries. The thing is that YOU are biased. YOU have a much different opinion on the subject because of how you make your living. Understandable, but dont take away from the THOUSANDS of citizens that want to carry without being concealed, or going to your class. They dont want to be breaking the law when they get out of their vehicles to pump gas. If you have signs showing up all over, why dont you use sores that support your way of thinking?
For the record, I dont want a pistol on my side, ever! I dont like to even have a wallet or pocket knife in my pocket because that crap bothers me.
"You don't get it..Those that Open Carry are making it harder for everyone."
Yeah, I do get it, they are making it harder on you and the ccw holders, not everyone. Furthermore, this wouldnt even be an issue if the AG would have had the notion to abide by MS law. But NOO, he was way too important for that. He decided he would in fact "make" his own rules. SO this new law was simply to take BS out of the way it had been basardized by law enforcement from the AG down to the county mounty. You know this, but like I said your biased. They should have upheld what was already written instead of being all high and mighty thinking he knew better than the lawmakers that wrote and passed the laws in the first place and this crap wouldnt be happening.

FYI, I don't make my living at this. I have a full time job. This is a side business and my courses cost as little as $85.00 per person and that includes $20.00 worth of NRA Material and other documents. Then you add on the range fees that I have to pay and pay the additional instructors on the range I get to keep some where between 35-40% of that money. Then I have to pay for instructor insurance, gas to and from the range, website, phone, internet, certifications, income tax, and that does not include the time I spent away from my family and leave my wife (who also has a full time job as a teacher) with 2 boys one who is 9 months old all day..
Over the course of a year, I may make enough of profit to cover all my costs and pay for a family vacation or two. But that is about it.. I do it mainly for the for the purpose of educating others..
