I agree in that MMT seems to be more of a whose dick is bigger or longer than any much useful knowledge. Yes, there are guys on there that know there stuff, but is mostly the boat builder guys like Uncle J.
Now, there was a group of guys in New Iberia / Loreauville area that built a hybrid inboard mud boat. One is a 140 h.p. 18ft and the other is a 325 h.p. 25ft. They had the inboard motor, but combined that with a pivoting shaft out the transom. Basically became an I/O (inboard/outboard), but was for shallow water and mud.

Lodie I looked on MMT and seemed to me that its few dude with a lot of rulers constantly telling the newbies how big their D is. I saw more blasting folks who ask out of the box questions, than actually help answer stated question.
Hey, i didnt say go to MMT. I said mud buddy forums. I think the guys name is weathers but im not for sure. Anyway he has made a suzuki motored surface drive 65 hp motor i think, maybe it was a vw engine? IDK but thats where i was pointing you. I dont go to MMT because of just what you said.

I wouldn't use a Harley engine either or any cruiser engine unless I just happen to have a free one available. If I were going to buy an engine it would be one that was designed with weight in mind. The cruiser engines are too heavy for the amount of HP output. Something like a dirt bike engine will give you a better HP to weight ratio. A dual sport engine would fit the bill with large displacement and factory electric start.
