Re: Petrino to StarkVegas?
Don't think Petrino will wind up at MSU under any scenario. I think Hudspeth is the likely coach in waiting if MSU decides to make a change. And the time for that change won't come anytime real soon barring a complete collapse this season -- not likely. Oklahoma State is a very good team. MSU's defense did a great job containing that offense. They just need to find some more offense and all will be well. It's still early, and that was just one game.
We are about to find out if Dak Prescott is the real deal, as many here previously projected. He will get his chance to start this weekend. A QB that has more mobility, like Prescott, may help MSU's offense open things up. The OL is suspect, so having a QB that can operate outside the pocket may be the answer.
Although I am not fond of Mullen's demeanor -- brash and arrogant -- he is not a bad coach. He certainly turned things around for MSU and has produced consistent winning seasons, bowls, a 3 year win streak against the In-state rival Rebs, and renewed fan enthusiasm. But, in the long run, I don't think his recruiting will sustain the higher expectations he has created. I think that Hudspeth could be the ideal future coach for MSU --- a good field coach AND good recruiter who would take the MSU job. But he won't be available to MSU forever. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
It's way too early to write off Mullen. But his ability to generate offense, including finding the right type of QB for MSU, will decide his future at MSU. Is Prescott the answer? Absent any other immediate alternatives, this answer may decide Mullen's fate.

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

I don't think Mullen will lose his job this year but will have to find a new OC and will be on the hot seat. The way college football is now if you don't have the talent on OL that teams like Bama and LSU have you can not compete with a non mobile QB. He does not have to be a Cam Newton or Johnny Football but at least like a Bo Wallace who moves good enough that you have to be prepared for that aspect of the game. I still think Russell is a solid QB but just does not fit with the talent around him.

I am a big state fan , state would be lucky to have Petrino, He is a great coach , but would need a morality clause in his contract ..........
State has not had any success at recruiting a decent QB. You got to have quality talent and good coaching ....
OC is an idiot , who goes for 4 and inches / out of the shot gun , that adds 4-5 yards you got to gain to the play. Play calling ultimately falls on HC.
Mullens bulldogs have won 2 games against ranked opponents during his tenure....definitely nothing to brag about.
defense played decent for 3 qtrs. , offense is horrible
Go Dawgs !

Re: Petrino to StarkVegas?
Mullen has had one of the most successful runs in MSU football history........I know that's relative, but it is what it is. That being said, I don't think Mullen is anywhere close to getting fired and most Bulldog fans believe the same. most everyone in the Bulldog family thinks he has to have 2-3 terrible years to get fired.........but it amazes me that everyone else says he is "gone" after this season.
As far as Petrino......why not? Jackie was damaged goods and we took a chance on him.....Bulldog nation now loves him. My feeling is that a major school will pick up Petrino at the end of the season.......but since Mullen will be in Starkville, Petrino will be elsewhere

That article is probably one of the best arguments I've seen. I sure hope Mullen and the AD read that. If they didn't someone with connections please
send it to them.
