Well it doesn't really matter anyway. Horrific crash and lives were lost.

Read this on another forum.

Kalitta Air 747. Carrying a load of armored vehicles out of Kabul Afganistan. One of the front ones came loose on takeoff causing a cascade failure of the tie downs on the rest. they all shifted aft and to one side.

Some of you pilots may can answer this for me. Is there any way to recover once some heavy cargo breaks free and starts sliding around in the cargo bay? It would seem to me it would be hopeless as that much weight shifting either forward or backwards every time the nose is either up or down. The constantly changing cg which would change the attitude causing the wings to lose lift.

I've flown in and out of BAF on several different airframes. From blackhawks to C-17's.... Now I see why those Air Force Loadmasters were so anal. Terrible day for everyone involved. The base sits in a "bowl" so the climb out does need to be somewhat steep but hundreds of aircraft come and go on a daily basis.
