I hunt mostly old oxbox lakes, brakes, and a few fields. I seldom put out more than 2 dozen decoys, and those are a mix of mallard, gadwall and widgeon drakes (for the white). I put little groups of decoys where I DONT want ducks to land, and try to set with the wind such that they don't have to fly OVER a bunch of decoys to get their feet wet. YMMV.

Choose your styles wisely...love my inflatables when a death march is gona happen and can put a dozen in my backpack easily...water keels weigh less but hardly ever land upright. Weighted keels are heavy but land upright everytime and handle waves and wind better. As far as brands...I like whatever is on sale. Hotbuys are cheap weighted keels and will last awhile. Yall have fun
