Any type of oily residue left on the finish of these guns will usually react to the dye used in the linings of most gun cases. The dying process reacts to oil. This is what ruins most finishes. Make sure you wipe ur gun dry after cleaning and dont store it in a gun scabbord. I've got duratouch finish guns over ten years old with no signs of finosh damage. I clean em all with Lube All inside and out.
Most any skeeter repellent (especially anything with deet in it) will eat the finish off any gun. Wood or otherwise. You have to be careful using that stuff around ur guns.

I have the original Beretta Xtrema (2006) and the only camo finish I seem to be missing is around the action from the ejecting of shells. I use it for ducks and turkey hunting. I have never had an issue with the camo coating. It looks as good as new everywhere else on the gun.

Sounds like the rest of you have chosen inferior weaponry...

I have a very early Browning Gold, and the factory camo is turning a little "yellow" and has been scratched in a few places, but is still in good shape. As said, DEET will dissovle it (and the crystal of your watch, ask me how I know). I have sprayed mine with Formula 409 on occasion, but that is about it. It really does help to have factory camo if you hunt in saltwater.

I have camo duck guns because of the corrosive effects of saltwater. Just don't use a solvent based cleaner on the finish. If it'll eat paint, it'll eat the camo. Honestly, after hunting saltwater, I chunk our guns in the shower and giv 'em a good hot bath of fresh water to clear any salt, dry them off, and re-oil. Every now and then, even use a mild dish soap. Just rinse very thoroughly, and re lubricate with you favorite oil.
Seems to work for me.
