It is quite possible this State team could lose the next 5 in a row.

The key will be if State can pressure McCarron. Obviuosly they will come out and stack against the run and play man coverage. For this to work they will have to put pressure on McCarron. Bama has too many players on offense they throw too so if they don't get pressure he will pick them apart. As good as Bamas OL is the right tackle is suspect against a really good pass rusher, especially speedy ones. I think this a close game all the way to the start of 4th quarter, but I also thought UT was gonna give Bama some problems.

Stack the Box. Man coverage - one move and it's 6. Stack the Box - one missed tackle and it's 6.

It's also "possible" that Mississippi will win out. Possible, yes. But neither will happen.

State has a chance, albeit a slim one. The reason I say this because they don't turn the ball over and they don't make a whole lot of mistakes. MSU has turned the ball over just 3 times all season while forcing 15. They lead the nation in turnover margin. Russell (the 867-5309 one hit wonder guy) has thrown 15 touchdowns and just one interception all season. Who in this league has a better QB right now? They may lose by 24, but I promise they will head to Tuscaloosa expecting to win.

Alabama has a better qb. You know he has only thrown 16 tds vs 0 picks

It will be a good game for sure. Good ol' SEC football! Doesn't get much better than 2 undefeated's about 80 miles apart meeting up on a cool crisp Sat Pm. Enjoy some good football fellas, dont let 'whose gonna win' get in the way.

BTW. RTR!

Absolutely. Probably wont win but you never know. A couple of defensive touchdowns and it's possible. This is the best chance we've had a very long time.

I don't know that McCarron is necessarily the better QB based on talent but supporting staff definitely plays a role. Russell's numbers would look better if MSU's receivers had not dropped the ball as much. A lot of those passes have been right on the money and flat out dropped. Throwing to 4 and 5 stars will always make your numbers look better than throwing to 2 and 3 star WR's. If we had 3 or 4 Chad Bumphis's on the field Russell would look even better.

I've also seen Russell get a lot of pressure this year and take some big hits from lesser competition. That's a bad combination when you're about to play Bama.

As for State getting pressure on McCarron - we really haven't pressured anybody all year. Maybe a little more on MTSU this past weekend but again it's MTSU. I don't think anyone is scared of our pass rush. Even when we were terrible it seemed like we could get pressure on the QB. That's the one big element we've been missing this year. Throw in the talent on the Alabama OL and I don't see it happening. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

So, like I said before - this game will be won or lost in the trenches and I just don't see us stacking up well against them. It will show up in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Trick plays and turnovers may give us a chance. Mullen will have to gamble some and hope it pays off.

Not a lot of down side here for the Dogs. We could lose by 17 or less and not lose one spot in the polls in my opinion. Do we lose by 17 or less??? Very good question. Alabama tends to get stronger as the game goes on and it just wears teams down by doing so. Bulldogs need to keep it close because I could see Bama scoring multiple times in the 4th quarter. Could MSU pull off an upset??? Doubtful but it could happen. Would take a lack luster performance by the Tide and some individual great plays by MSU. It happens every year to someone...could be our time to shine.

I definetly think state can stay within 17 unless Bama manages to jump on them early. Bama just does not play to blow people out. So if thy have a 10-14 point lead in the 4th they will just run it and kill the clock. Once again I think this game will be really tight at the half. With Bama pulling away half way through the third or early fourth quarter.

If ESPN repeatedly shows AJs momma in the stands, everybody wins Saturday night.
