Got the axle and wheels from industrial tricycle...not easy to find...Might suggest building a frame similar to my cart that has big wheel lawnmower "spindles"/hard tires or weld bike axles to a bar, etc. You can buy a factory job for kayaks/canoes that have big plastic wheels also.

I bungy ereything on the cart and step in the big opening and pull it to my waist and truck...

Thisun is 'bout $60.

I have this one. It's the biggest POS ever. It works marginally well with a kayak when pulling it on concrete or gravel. But add deep grass or bumps and it falls off no matter how well you strap it to your boat. Those dinky tires and tubing underneith give it no ground clearance. One of the bloody cotter pin that holds the wheels on fell off when we got to a duck hole way back in a WMA. Thank god my friend found a perfect twig that fit in the hole and it kept the wheel on for the drag out. It was the last time I used that thing.

What I use is a used Jogger stroller I bought on craigslist for $15. I took off the front wheel and it works like a deer hauler. Plus it has the bigger wheels so it goes over stumps, fallen trees etc... the place where the baby normally goes also works as a nice storage spot for a shell bag or whatever. I just ratchet strap my kayak or canoe on to it and it's the cats booty.

^^^^Agreed

Yazoo, do you trailer your rig as shown? I'm thinking of something similar (especially the single pole design), but I'd like to be able to put the whole rig in the back of the truck (i.e. pirogue on the atv rack, atv in the truck). I'm concerned about how it would travel at highway speeds. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

We had one of these on our 4wheeler and it was fantastic. We actally took it off and rigged it onto our Ranger since selling the 4wheeler. it will hold 2 kayaks easy since you can extend the side rail out.

Here it is on ours (note the "aftermarket" foam padding is a necessity! You will bonk your head on the rail, and it does hurt!):

I have tried trailering it and I didn't feel comfortable doing so. I usually haul the pirogue next the 4wheeler on the trailer. I don't trailer it much though...mainly leave it at camp during season and haul around on the 4wheeler. The drag from the boat going down the road acts like a big kite. Too much pull for a 4wheeler rack if you ask me.
