Im sorry if I stirred it up by say you should have had your kill switch attached, it just bothers me to know that this happened to you. so many other times its human error and I spoke out of line and jumped to conclusions. Again I am thankful to our great GOD above that yall are ok. Please Please Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WEAR A LIFE VEST NEXT TIME!!! AND MAKE SURE ITS THE MOST GOD AWFUL BIG ORANGE THING YOU CAN FIND!!! I have been through numerous water survival situations and its hard to find a camo vest in the water or woods for that matter. I know there a pain and they don't look cool, but there designed to save lives.

Again I am sorry if I made it look different but also thanking the Lord above your all alive.

Duckpro12 wrote:I was the guy who was involved in the accident. First i would like to thank the fine young men who saved my life and my buddy. There was no racing involved. The accident occurred due to a faulty throttle cable. The cable pinched in half resulting in the throttle being stuck wide open. So the first thing I did was try to turn the motor off. That did not work. So by this time I am try to pull the kill switch which was attached to me. As this is going on the spotlight goes out. I am trying to pull the kill switch and steer. Because of my speed in the tight spot I was not able to turn in time to miss a cypress tree. The boat hit the tree and flipped over. I was thrown out of boat and my buddy and dog were trapped under boat. My buddy was able to swim out and grab a tree. I keep my waders half on so was able rip them off. Once I realized my buddy was ok we screamed for help and God sent us his guardian angles. My dog was still under boat and wasn't leaving her. I was able to swim under and pull her out. A lot of you will think it's just a dog but she is my life. The guys who came to our rescue pulled out and took us to land. We were lucky water was 10ft plus. God was with us. The throttle cable never showed any type of trouble and was even working right before this. I had been slowing up and down riding in. Alot of you may say well I could of done this or that. But let me tell you it happened in a split second and we were swimming. Hope this story opens some eyes and realize how important being safe is. We were Not wearing life jackets. It was a miracle we were not knocked out. Once again thank you heroes. I am writting this because of your quick actions.
Glad y'all are ok! A sobering lesson for us all, life can turn on a dime.

Mudsucker, the rules you posted should not pertain to this post. If you can't discuss saftey related issues such as this, then the whole dam forum might as well be shut down.

Glad y'all are ok. Its a scary situation for sure! A friend of mine and I were riding in a bass boat during spring and the throttle cable broke at full speed and the key didn't shut it off and we were able to pull the gas line. Everyone isn't as lucky HE has a plan for ya.

I would also like to thank john summerville, Karen, and Chase for reacting so quickly and getting Wesley and myself out of that cold water. Wesley did everything possible in the amount of time we had to get the boat stopped. Thank the Lord for having his hand on us. Thank you guys for your concern.

Scary story with happy ending. I completely understand your feeling for your dog. They give us so much but they also depend on us for everything. We never want to let them down. I am so happy that you and your hunting buddy and dog are all safe.

I hope this accident will open all of our eyes and relize how important safety is. I hope all of you will wear life jackets. That water took so much out of me in a matter of minutes. If it wasn't for the quick response time of Chase and John I think this story could have had a horrible ending. I apperciate all of the concerns.
