Any one of us could score 20 points a game if we took enough shots.
Yeah, ....right. Good lord. You've got to be kidding me. Most of our fat arses here couldn't make it two trips down the court without oxygen, gatorade, and physical therapy. And against the defenses faced in the SEC and quality nonconference, few of us here could probably even get off a shot, much less make one or two. One good swat by a player like Murphey Holloway or Reggie Buckner would send most of us to the hospital. This ain't high school ball or driveway homeboy ball.
With regard to the bird flipping incident, it appears to have lasted about a nano second, as Marshall entered the tunnel out of the arena. Our assistant on "Marshall alert" was slipping in his job.

He tried to get there in time, but he was a tad late. Here it is, in all its wickedness and infamy:

I don't condone that behavior, and I wish that Marshall could refrain from retaliation against classless fans. Flipping the bird to any fan, regardless of what they might have said, is uncalled for. No one at Ole Miss, fans included, condones this behavior. But, I am not going to advocate that he be kicked off the team for such a minor incident. Maybe some counseling about better behavior is in order. It ain't like he attacked anyone or singled anyone out in the crowd --- the only reason anyone saw it is due to the video cameras rolling to capture his every move from the time he enters the arena to the time he exits, and then beyond to the locker. 99.99999999 % of the fans in the arena had no clue this even happened at the time. Kind of like the tree that falls in the woods that no one sees or hears --- did it really make a sound?
IF we were to start firing coaches, or kicking players off teams, for acting like a jackarse, then MSU's Mullen and Cohen would have already been fired at MSU. Their jackarsery is already legendary.

OR what about the foul language by head coaches, especially football coaches, on the sidelines that often gets captured on video (and audio) during games? Firing offense? Suspension? Public reprimand? Counseling and being lashed with a wet noodle?
If Marshall comes back for his senior year, he will be the only senior on the team next season. Being in this role MIGHT tone his antics down a bit, and he would have an offseason to work on it, along with his basketball skills. Probably wishful thinking on my part --- the part about Marshall even returning --- and the part about him toning things down.
I am still amazed at how every little thing Marshall does is analyzed and over-analyzed by opposing fans and pundits. They are apparently either obsessed with him or at least very fascinated by him. But, blowing things out of proportion is a longtime tradition by "opposing fans" in general. We all do it. Feigned outrage at the less than outrageous by others. It makes us feel better about ourselves, I suppose. Imagine the nerve of Marshall ---flipping the bird to an opposing fan. No player has EVER done that before. Right? String him up. We can't have that, because it would be so out of character to the high sports etiquette standards set by coaches, fans and players.
