Hunting Lessons?
Could someone please take time out of thier busy hunting schedule to teach me how to kill ducks??
I have not even fired a shot this year. There have been several occasions that we saw a good number of birds but cannot get anything to commit or times when birds don't even give me a first look.
In years past we have seen less birds than we have this year, but killed plenty.
If anyone would be so kind as to help teach a young man, who is willing to listen, learn and work hard, to kill some ducks; I have boat, fourwheeler, 4x4 SUV, and gun. I will prolly be out of town this weekend but after that I would happy to travel to meet you.
My poor dog is getting bored, this is her first season, and she hasn't gotten an oppurtunity to pick up a duck yet.
Please pm or email.

I should say, you'll have the chance, to kill a duck. I couldnt shoot for crap last weekend.

"You get what you put in and people get what they deserve..." Hank Jr. and Kid Rock
The surest way to get ducks to fly close is to set your gun down and walk in any direction for about 20 yds or just far enough where you can't get back to it in time. I promise the best shots of the day will come in right then and there, works for me everytime.
When you have shot one bird flying you have shot all birds flying. They are all different and they fly in different ways but the sensation is the same and the last one as good as the first.

SBE, on one side of your problem I feel bad for ya and on the other I am glad as can be I am not all alone
. My poor dog has all but given up on me for the year. Everytime I see that poor joker he just looks depressed. I guess he looks like I feel about this season. Good luck to you for the rest of the season. Hope it turns around for ya.

I walked out to fetch one the other day(mental note to self...get a darn dog) and didn't reload the shell I had just shot...well, halfway there mr mallard decides to try to outswim me...shot number 2....then just b4 I get to him, he tries to take off again(cussin this steel shot by now)...3rd shot gets him....as I pick him up by the neck squeezing real hard, I look up and there's 3 15 ft above me cupped and ready to land in the decoys....they actually land!.I have to scare them up to get back to teh blind for shells.....ya know, there's a little bib pocket that'll hold a few shells! mines full from now on!
and, I've been hunting 3 times and still have over half a box of shells....that's crappy!

Taking a leak works when there's a decent number of birds in the area...but it's not guaranteed. It's like picking up the dekes. It's easy to keep a shotgun close enough to kill ducks and you're not vulnerable enough. The ducks know that. So if you REALLY want to see ducks over your decoys, you have to take a dump. I know, I know...there aren't many things in life that are as uncomfortable a squatting in the middle of a rice field, trying to poop around your waders while it's cold and the wind is blowing. Your hunting buddies' laughter doesn't help either (a word of advice--if you have to crap and there's a camera in the blind, take it with you; your buddies that you thought were loyal friends will not hesitate to use this most humiliating form of embarassment).
A man that's never killed a greenhead with his waders around his ankles and toilet paper hanging out of his crack just isn't hunting hard enough.
