Be sure and tune in tonight at 8 PM Central to The Game Keepers of Mossy Oak on The Pursuit Channel(604 on DirecTV). This episode features BDHS and it's efforts to combine agriculture, wildlife habitat management, and hunting all on one of our farms.

that was it. it was pretty good. not a farmer, so it was definitely cool to see that, along with hearing about those type programs. learned a lot. one of these days i'll secure enough cash to buy a farm in the MS Delta and to exactly that.

Glad you enjoyed it, that's one of our project sites I was the one talking about the tailwater recovery and reservoir.

Now do these guys pump out of the tail water pond or is it just a trap for runoff?

So the reservoir holds rainwater that is used for irrigation instead of or in addition to well water?

There is a tailwater recovery ditch that captures rainfall and irrigation runoff from a few hundred acres of Ag land, the water is pumped into the reservoir and stored until needed for irrigation. Designed to reduce well water use by about 80% on those acres.

irrigation retention ponds are beginning to catch on in east side of the state...wells have to be crazy deep to hit water, so very few have ground water irrigation wells. wingman, did charlie ever mention how deep the well on their fishponds was out on hwy82? the number that is sticking in my head is 1200', but it sounds outlandish.

When I worked for him, Cal, those ponds weren't built yet and the others used only watershed.
