Truck A/C problem??
Truck A/C problem??
A/C in 2011 Ford F350 is acting up....it blows cold but barely blows - you can turn the A/C on as high as it can go and it sounds like it should when turned on high but the air barely blows out of the vents - it's still cold though.
Any ideas on what would cause that?

With our Fords at work, it's either the blender door or the goofy little plastic screen under the dash that is within the vent system.

You ain't kidding, pain in the butt with it being a Ford. Tearing down a dash in one of those bad boys sucks!booger wrote:With our Fords at work, it's either the blender door or the goofy little plastic screen under the dash that is within the vent system.

Could be a blend door, actuator or resistor to fan speed switch.

Re: Truck A/C problem??
I hope somebody knows. I also have a 2011 F250 that does the same thing. Only way I can get it to start blowing right is to shut the truck off and restart it. Sometimes that doesn't work either. Seems to have a mind of its own some days.

Re: Truck A/C problem??
I had the same problem with my old S-10 on occassion. It could be as simple as the A/C vent tube being disconnected to the blower motor. Unfortunately, that may require the same procedure to fix (a.k.a. - remove the dash to clear the blockage.)
Nobody owes you anything.

Re: Truck A/C problem??
sounds like the evaporator is freezing up. i havnt seen this problem yet on a f250. i'll kick it around and see if i can come up with anything
this look's like it's gona hurt
Re: Truck A/C problem??
Sounds like a blend door. Is it blowing from any other location? Defrost, feet, etc? I don't know about 2011 fords, but other vehicles are vacuum actuated, so if there's a leak in the vacuum line it would cause symptoms similar to this.

Re: Truck A/C problem??
could be several things as mentioned above.
mine is caused by a vacuum leak on the firewall. it blows fine until the engine gets a load on it, then it will start blowing cold air through the defrost.
I still haven't been able to figure out which vacuum line it is.

You can pull the glovebox out and see the blend door actuator, as well as, the re-circ actuator to see if they are functioning will full travel or getting hung up.

This is prob a bad check valve in the vacuum line. Cheap part, just gotta find itgtk wrote:could be several things as mentioned above.

2011?.... take the MF'r back to the dealer and tell them to fix it. It should still be under warranty. All our fleet Ford 1 tons are and they're 2010.

That's what I told the guy that drives it to do....it's one of our work trucks so he's gonna take it to the dealership and see about it getting covered under warranty.rubrail wrote:2011?.... take the MF'r back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.
