I'll tell you what the problem is....

It's all you dang folks out there hunting with spinners and not wearing face masks while looking straight into the sun as you stand up in the middle of your corn field while wearing Breakup camo.

That's what the problem is.

I saw a couple thousand "new" birds today. The wet spot they usually sit in, wich is private property, was still frozen. They where pouring into the frozen field next to the said wet spot about 9 a.m. Funny looking little buggers all huddled up next to what bit of water there was. They're here...wait till the thaw...I am. Y'all have a nice day! 8)

All I know is I went Monday thinking we were going to have some good shooting. The snow geese were thick. Broke 1-1/2" of ice in one hole. (1 gaddie) Had the worst hunt of the year. Saw VERY few ducks flying. We left and went to another hole ending up shooting a total of 3 (mallard, merganser plus the gad) hunted until after 10. What was dissapointing was we took my cousins young son (12). That is why we had a merganser in the bag. I really wanted him to have some action. The ebst thing that happened was I got to rib my cousin about needing to get the merganser mounted for his boy. Then I tried to convince them he would be good to eat. Nothing is better than taking a wide eyed kid hunting.

I could care less what the limit is. I hunt for fun. If it was 2 or 20 I would still go. I just like to see them fly and BS in the blind. It ain't about the killing for me. I just want to see them and Monday we didn't. I think they had overflew our lease because of the ice. They could of been high flying and I couldn't see them but I doubt it. A buddy went to Oak Grove, LA and had a fairly good shoot. However on Christmas eve some of the guys limited in the same spot I ended up in. We jumped about 100 greenheads when going in but they flew off and didn't come back. I think, it is one of those deals where you gotta be there when they are coming through or you are SOL. Gonna try them Thursday and Friday. Maybe it will be overcast and cloudy. Every day I have been this year has been a bluebird day. Would really like to get in one of those grey, drizzly mornings where they have to fly low.
