I thought I heard somewhere, maybe here, that some tire company had bought the old "buckshot Q" mold and were gonna start making em again. I could sell my 4wheel drive and go to the classic Qs in the back 2wheel drive mud mobile.

Everybody had'em in the camp that I was a member of in the late 70s ...we ran 750 x 16s(white spoke rims) on the old small broncos (76/77) with a PTO winch.....amazing where those trucks would go.....the cable would break before that winch stopped pulling....good times.

A friend of mine use to have a late 90's model wrangler that was really his families hunting vehicle. It had a set and I swear we took that poor jeep everywhere we shouldn't have and never stuck it. Great tire for everything but the blacktop!

Those bring back some memories. Wide grip buckshot mudders, 33x12.50 on a toyota truck. A toyota with those would go through anything. I could be cross rutted and go around stuck z71's, thats how good they would pull.

Man those and the old grip spurs where the best tires ever made for mud. They were some kind of loud on pavement.

Is that what they used to call "co-op" or "unico" tires?

I vaguely remember my dad's first "company" truck. It was an early 80s "power ram"(power wagon), flat grey color, converted to propane, running co-op buckshots. That thing was a beast! They were working up in Kentucky or Illinois at the time and he was making the drive 2 or 3 times a week. Had to be a miserable ride.

There was the Co-op Grip Spur and the Gateway Buckshot Mudder, which I think were pretty much the same thing. Basically the same tire. Not sure about the Unico brand.

A set of Grip Spurs on an old Bronco would take you anywhere you wanted to go. And then some.

I wish the mods would consolidate all the tire threads and make it a sticky. It would be 1200 pages long.
