Few ducks on Tallahatchie NWR today, but tons of snow geese. Did any of yall see the ducks in the corn field north of the HWY this past week? They literally rode it down. Would love to hunt the little tupelo gum brake beside it just one day.

I hear you. I wish just once, that they would open up that area N. of Hwy 8. Or atleast make it not so appealing to the ducks.

Is that pocket planted in corn again this year? Did sdme contract work this summer and teh entire property looked superb in terms of habitat conditions.

What FWS needs to do is rotate the refuge side every year. Also, would not hurt to have a draw hunt the last weekend of the season. Maybe even open the whole refuge one weekend! My .02

Yea, the corn is (was) in the same little pocket. What is interesting is there was not a lot of ducks around when they first started in on the field. Numbers seem to be picking up today though, at least north of that area. Maybe the thawing has got them moving about some.

If you are talking about Harry Barefoot, northwest of Charleston, I am not sure. Have not been up 35 HWY since a day or two before Christmas. Do you hunt up there?
