Tohatsu Motor Question

Anybody got any experience with the 4hp Tohatsu?

Im also interested in a tohatsu, but in 40hp. Any comments, thoughts, suggestions on the brand would be great.

They build Nissan and Merk motors. Over the years plenty of people that bought other brands of outboards were actually buying the tohatsu. They are great engines.

The 4 hp i have heard some bad things about, buy an older 2 stroke.

I have a 2000 ish model 9.9. It has been very reliable. I also have a mariner and the tahatsu will run circles around the mariner.

Buddy had a 50hp short shaft on a 16' super skeeter. Motor ran like a top and boat would haul butt.
