Ceramic grills
Ceramic grills
I would like a Big Green Egg but don't like the price. What's the scoop on the Kamodo Joe and the Bayou Classic? Or, is the BGE the way to go?

Re: Ceramic grills
I've been looking into the BGE and it seems that there is some competition from Primo and Kamado. Kamado being pricier and primo being a different shape and claiming superiority. Everyone I know that has a BGE swears by them. The prices I have seen are pretty high, but from an investment perspective I think it's legit. If properly cared for your grandkids could be cooking on it. I would argue that's gonna be a hard mark to hit for a majority of store bought cooking devices.

Amazingribs.com does a real good review of these style grills.. Check it out. They seem to like the primo.
Re: Ceramic grills
I just bought a Bayou Classic from Duckaholic on here and so far the hype about these things has been confirmed. This week I've cooked chicken, salmon, and steaks and they have all turned out excellent!

I just got a Portable Kitchen grill. Check them out at pkgrills.com. It is cast aluminum and air tight. You can sear, grill, or smoke with it. Supposed to last forever and its about 1/3 the price of any of the ceramics.

Re: Ceramic grills
I learned how to grill on one of these bad boys. My parents have had it for probably 30+ years. Glad you brought the brand up. I figured they were out of business. Just checked out the website. I'm gonna get a new set of grates and the cradle.TODO wrote:I just got a Portable Kitchen grill. Check them out at pkgrills.com. It is cast aluminum and air tight. They are all porcelain grills controlled with air flow. They all do the exact same thing. I have the bayou classic and its been great
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?
Re: Ceramic grills
Bought a Cypress from Duckaholic a few years back. Best thing since sliced bread. I've cooked everything from steak & ribs to pizza. It's legit.

Get a BGE and don't look back. Grilled steaks on mine tonite. Superb!
Re: Ceramic grills
I agree and while I have a BGE that I really like, honestly you can get more for your money. The BGE does have lots of readily available accessories that are nice but also increase the cost.Jelly wrote:They are all porcelain grills controlled with air flow. They all do the exact same thing. Re: Ceramic grills
I have a Bayou Classic and no complaints. My dad has a BGE and there is absolutely no difference in the way they cook. Actually the hardware on mine is a little sturdier than a BGE and the accessories are not as expensive. Great grills without a doubt.
work hard, play hard

Agree. I would also say to bight the bullet and get the XLarge BGE. I have an XL and there are some days I wish i had more. My bussied that got the Larger often wish they had more room. I got my for Fathers Day last year.......keep your eyes open, there will be some deals coming.skywalker wrote:Get a BGE and don't look back. Grilled steaks on mine tonite. Superb!

Re: Ceramic grills
I'm looking into this as well. Had a distributor tell me that their BGE rep says that if you need the extra space buy a Large and a Small or two Larges because the XLarge burns so much more charcoal you will save a huge chunk of money in the long run. Sounds like it would take a REALLY long time to burn that much charcoal to me.stitch wrote:Agree. I would also say to bight the bullet and get the XLarge BGE. How much are you burning in your XL?
