Mike Pentacost - 450 confirmed turkey kills
I mean how does this guy do it.
His quest on his TV show was to have 450 confrimed killed before tunring 50.
if he killed his first bird at 10 YO, thats like 12 birds a year.
i have killed alot of turkey, and am near 30 years old, but i aint killed as many as this dude.
My dad is 59 and he probably has close to 100+ beards on a string, i thought that was impressive.
i guess when turkeys is all you do, you get the lay the hammer down.

It's called you own wood haven calls and you go all over the country every single year

Believe it or not there's folks in MS that probablly top that. Ain't saying its done right, just saying its probably been done.

Yea I know a fella that has a lil over 500. No teeth an can make chills pop up on your arm when he runs a mouth call. He's a local legend and has probably never hunted outta state.
IF YOU POUR IT OUT, THEY WILL COME
Re: Mike Pentacost - 450 confirmed turkey kills
Most of the folks that I know that have more than 200 have not always played by the rules. It can be done if you travel enough, but you have to be consistent year in and year out in some high number states.

Re: Mike Pentacost - 450 confirmed turkey kills
I think what most fail to realize is that back in the day, people shot way over the limit on turkey birds. I know a few old school turkey hunters that would kill 15+ a year in MS whether it be with a rifle or shotgun. Most of these were on the river, when it was all big timber and there were no large hunting clubs established over that way. There is no way that guy has killed that many birds in a legal manner at his age.

when you hunt 4-5 + days a week in 6 or more states for 3 months, it's feasible
it's been my experience that when you find the turkey hunters that always seem to be killing a bird or calling one up for someone to shoot, seemingly every week...a little investigation will reveal they are also hunting 4-5 mornings a week, not just going on Saturday and Sunday mornings hoping to be close to a gobbling bird on a limb at daylight. Time in the woods makes quite a difference with turkeys and success

something to be said if it's that many birds, and it's done right. i guess if you got the cash/invites to constantly travel the entire season you could do 10 a year but that's gotta be done every year. even then, that's still really impressive with willingness to pay/travelpeewee wrote:Believe it or not there's folks in MS that probablly top that. Ten a year would be easy if you are strictly after numbers. He can kill five in bama, four in TX and four in TN. That's 13 in 3 states and with the turkeys they got it would not be hard at all on decent property.
Re: Mike Pentacost - 450 confirmed turkey kills
I just got off the phone with Mr Pentacost. He is building a slate for Freedom Hunters and it looks like the Woodhaven crew will be joining Freedom Hunters for our hunt in Devils Tower Wyoming. Seemed like a really nice guy and I look forward to hearing a few of the stories around the lodge about getting to 450

I know a guy in jones county that would easily make those numbers and he ain't close to 50!! Sad but he is a straight up killer and I just make sure he stays away from my grounds cuz if he sees one anywhere he is game.
