If ya'll haven't ran a test at the Cattle Ranch recently you are in for a treat. The grounds are world class. The bird boys are the best in the world. And to top it off the Judges are as good as it gets.
We are planning on a great time!!!!

+1, we ran the AKC test that north alabama had a couple weeks ago at the cattle ranch. Man that place was fine.

Ducks are confirmed. Grounds are ready and waiting. Bird boys are anxious to spend a day in the sun. All that is left to do is oil the 870's and set up the tests.
Looking forward to a good time!!!

Ok Mark , you there is a lot more to do than that. I see we are judging together at Bay Area the following week after Centrals hunt.
Good luck with your test.

You are right there is a LOT more work that goes into putting on a test. No one wants to hear the details of ordering portapotties, inventory of equipment, ordering poppers, ect, ect, ect.
As chair I have had a couple of conversations with new handlers that have me really excited about the future of HRC & the dog games in general. A young mans father called about running his son in Started. I believe 10 years old & hooked by our brothers at Southern Flight. We will have 3 generations of Gravely's at Started. Jack is judging, Richard agreed to help with the running order and his son Zach will run test dog all weekend. If we don't put a pic of that in the HRC magazine it will truly be shameful. Also another Mississippi native T.J. will be running Spooky in Finished. What a joy it has been to watch this young man come up through the ranks of HRC with more poise than many of the old timers. When folks tell me the retriever games are for the retired or those with lots of time, I tell them they are running the wrong venue. Family and children have been and will remain a cornerstone of HRC.
I look forward to entering the judging ranks. The responsibility is great but my co-judges at my first test are judges I respect. I am certain they can keep me out of trouble. My biggest hope is that my test will spark the desire in some to continue the HRC tradition!

P.S. Bill, bring them on. I saw Stinger run Master & he is ready for the task.

Your right Mark about the younger ones running their dogs. AKC offers a Young kids under 18 something special as Jr hunters but very few come and run AKC. Glad to here Jack is going to judges. Good addition to the judges pool.

Tj will be running spooky puppy and da juice... After ru next weekend, and central al, Tj will need 3 passes for 500 points on spooky, and da juice will need 1 pass for a 1000. He's gonna run another weekendy somewhere, and we ll be on the line together for his first 500 point dog and da juices 1000th. He's 15 out of 16 finished passes this season, dropped a test with spooky puppy at southern flight ending a 13 in a row streak . He has run EVERY finished test with spooky... Not many folks get their first 500 point jacket before their driving permit. Turns 16 in October, and he ll finally be old enough to legally shoot in started! Haha.
Mark glad to hear you start judging. I'd be proud to sit beside you or run a dog in front of you . A welcome addition!

Ha ha ha!! Mark, running Stinger is like driving a dragster!!! It looks cool as hell from the stands, but is a bare knuckle, bug eyed, blood curdling scream experience behind the wheel!!!fishduck wrote:P.S. Bill, bring them on. I saw Stinger run Master & he is ready for the task.

But Lord knows its fun and never a dull moment!!!

Re: Central Alabama Hunt test May 4th & 5th
I'm too old to run Stinger. When I started with him I still had my hair. He's taken years off my life and I don't think my heart could take it. Maybe would try the hrc game with Daisy though.
