Open Carry video. Law Student vs. Cop
Re: Open Carry video. Law Student vs. Cop
What about asking for his ID just to verify the kid was old enough to possess the gun?

Re: Open Carry video. Law Student vs. Cop
First I personally think you should have to complete a class similar to a enhanced carry class to open carry and do an
application with the finger printing and all like a concealed carry permit to be able to open carry.
This will eliminate thugs from doing it.
Second if you are open carrying I believe a cop should have the right to ask for your I.D. and take your fire arm until your I.D. has been ran to ensure you are not either under age or a felon.
Third it should have to be in a legit holster and not just stuck in you pants.
But I am pro open carry.

LA is apparently Open Carry, and around Monroe, most guys are wearing one. i personally think its ok so long as we police ourselves diligently

One day this dude will meet the wrong cop and end up face down with a boot in his back. Cop will probably lose job. Just don't see the point of open carry.

That could and should have been handled differently. Just give the cop a name and and be on your way. If anyone can see or then they have the right to ask. I don't like the open carry law either. I think there will be some examples made in July.

If I am not breaking the law, in the process of, looking like I am- then no cop or any other individual has any business asking me for anything. Period.blackhawk0718 wrote:First I personally think you should have to complete a class similar to a enhanced carry class to open carry and do an

Like the fellow above said: it's a right. THAT is the point of it.

So you're ok with profiling and assuming that a person with a certain "look" has more than likely been convicted of several felonies but not with a police officer doing his job. If profiling is "ok" with you then one can assume that you would be "profiled" simply by your screen name alone. Would that be ok? In your eyes probably not.. but in other's eyes who are familiar with the numerics... yes. You advertise and you're going to get business... plain and simple.420 racin wrote:While I agree the "gentleman" picutred above would cause hesitation and concern if he were to walk in with a glock sticking out of his pants, but it wouldn't really matter if it was open carry or concealled....he still has it. I myself would rather know he had it so i could keep my eye on him rather than not know if he was carrying or not.
Also, the "gentleman" in the photo has more than likely been convicted of several felonies and would not be allowed to "legally" carry a gun, but your point was well made with this guy, he looks like a sure upstanding citizen!
A majority of the general public are law abiding citizens but the few that are not are the ones that hate law enforcement and would jump at at chance to bash them until........ they have a crime committed against them then it's where are the police, I need the police, help he robbed me !!

How was the student being a "peepee"? Some of yall have your heads screwed on wrong.... It is his right to open carry AND his right to NOT be harrassed by the law..
CUT EM BOYS!!!
Re: Open Carry video. Law Student vs. Cop
Open Carry has always been legal in the state of MS. It's clearly written the Ms constitution. The confusion has only been created by law enforcement and lawyers. This kid could have proven his point without all the drama, but to his defense, he should have never had to proven a point to begin with. If you want to open carry and aren't causing any harm or suspision of harm then the cop should have told the person that called and complained that the guy was not breaking any laws by carrying a weopon open. Apparently he knew the kid was legal to open carry and just wanted to flex his police muscle. Why the hell can't people just leave other people alone and mind their own dam business?
This will cause a lot of problems here after July 1st, because a lot of liberterian minded people are going to do this to prove thier points and I'm afraid a lot of lawyers are going to be making money off of some ill educated police departments and a lot of law enforcement officers may end up loosing thier jobs because they roughed up Bubba cause he didn't want to give up any info.

I love how all these people saying that if they are not doing anything wrong they wouldn't give them I'd. Yet I bet you go through a road block and cop asks for dl proof of insurance and whatever they ask for you, you comply. Internet bad@$$
