.....although few Americans speak German, many Germans speak English.......don't forget that!

Another funny story.....armpit comment reminded me of this story......German women we saw were VERY beautiful. We were at our 6th biergarten of the day, and this tall woman with short blonde hair and blue eyes walked up behind us to order a beer. Stupid Americans (me and my buddy) thinking we are the only one's that can speak english start talking about how beautiful this woman was (she is standing right beside us). Our food shows up......all we can think about now is "where is the mustard for our sausage".......about that time, this beautiful blond hands us some mustard, smiles....and in a German accent says "you boys looking for this".....

Catch a Bundesliga match for sure.

At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

It's a good thing they speak English or my ass would never find my way around. The women I have met so far are well groomed. The beer is good I tried the ones on the list that I could find. The biggest thing I have learned so far is milk only comes in liters and when you grocery shop you don't get bags. Also after you convert to euros and still pay more than stuff is in dollars it's pretty expensive.

I guess you have figured out, by now, to order your water "without gas". That seltzer water was nasty. My wife and I spent 2 weeks (about this same time of the year) in 2004 visiting her brother when he was stationed in Mannheim. The country was absoultely beautiful (their "old" stuff was a lot older than our old stuff). For the most part, they were extremely nice to us. The closer you got to the French border (Trier area), the more rude the people were. My B-I-L retired from the Army but he just moved back a couple of months ago as a civilian employeee for the federal government. I think he's in the Stuttgart area now. He spent probably 8-10 years between his 2 stints in Germany so he can actually maneuver around pretty well over there. Otherwise, we'd been lost without him. And yes, most of them (at least the younger ones), speak very good English....and the beer cannot be beat.

thats the truth, living in italy that is the hardest thing, i think the exchange rate is around .78 USD per euro. I was in London from mar 19-26 and the USD was .5 to 1.5GBP  i hope that my next station will be in Germany the people there are much nicer than italians
